Hey guys I need some help here I picked up a 2003 A6 3.slow wagon it's got 185000 km on it also looks well maintained
My problem is I am trying to find out if the belt has been done besides looking at it so I pulled the car fax and phoned around a bit trying to figure stuff out since I didn't get any maintenance records whatsoever when I bought it I didn't like that but the looked and drove nice enough!
Anyways I couldn't find out anything!
Now here I am wondering has it been done or not since audi says replace at 110000km and I am sittn at 185000thats 75000 difference so how likely is it that the belt has been done?

Hello fellow Winnipeger! I would suggest doing timing belt as preventative maintenance and peace of mind. When I bought my S6 it had no maintenance history or records. First year I did timing belt, water pump tensioner, serpentine belt, transmission service, cabin filter, air filter, plugs, n80 valve, windshield cowl piece. Lots of work but two years later it's only needed oil changes since that initial hit.

i just did a motor swap into my allroad took an S4 motor with lower Kms and had it installed. the previous owner of motor told me it had been done but at no idea what KM it was replaced. drove for a week or so and i got a pin hole coolant leak. prolly from the thermostat housing. so ive got timing belt parts and thermostat housing all on order. gonna do it now and forget about it for some time. as posted by SteelyS6 may as well just get it done. its better now then be cruising down the road snapping a belt dropping a rod and having to do the major rebuild. mind you if you do blow it up its always the best time to go overboard with a new build!! and with all the options now available for engine mods.... just saying!! for piece of mind that you wont regret.

Do it now! Even if it was done there is no way of knowing how long ago or the quality of the parts or labor. Do it, don't cheap out on the timing kit.

I wouldnt do it, EVAR. I mean, why bother? What does there timing belt do even? Im have the digital clock right in the front of the speedometer, so what is it reading time? I also have a belt, but I lost weight. Probably stress.

EK Import Auto, very familiar with German vehicles and a lot more reasonable shop rates. They're my Independant of choice when it comes to my car.
There is also Franks Auto on Notre Dame I believe.
