View Full Version : Did I screw up the intake install?

Last night, I did the spark plugs replaced and the car was smooth and solid. Followed the Audicition.com guide when I swapped my old filter. For a K&N and its all Herky-Jerky again. Cleaned it out the best I could and while I didn't slam intake cover (snorkel that covers the the intake), its on.
Any insight would help, maybe I should push the part in until it really snaps or maybe it just needs to settle in.
Thanks for taking a look

What do you mean by herky jerky? Are you having some sort of drivability issue or is your airbox just not coming back together properly?

Maybe check your MAF to ensure its clean and you didn't break anything when you were replacing the filter.

Did you remove the MAF? If so, check to make sure you re-installed it in the correct direction

Reinstalled the sensors correctly.
Just mean I drove it before the change and it didn't feel as abrupt as it did. Would a bad maf sensor or anything trigger a CEL or no?
Gonna drive it again in a few minutes, see if there's any change

A bad MAF sensor would definitely trigger a CEL. The ECU just has to realize it is bad first.

Well no Cel post install. Still haven't driven it yet, but from EuropaParts HQ to my house, no lights or anything
Like I said, gonna try it out again in a bit and see if anything changed

Well if the K&N was over oild, the oil will get into the MAF and foul it. Hence the reason very few people bother running K&N filters anymore...

Yeah that is a possibility. It would have to be literally dripping with filter oil to do have an issue that fast though or just real bad luck. Normally the people who have had issues with the K&N it didn't happen right away.

Seems fine ATM, I'll have my teacher take a look tomorrow when I get the Fuel Filter put in

Did you remove a vacuum hose or break a PCV line somewhere while you were doing plugs?

I simply pulled the clips up around the intake box and later put them back in, also made sure the snorkle side clip wasn't on one line I saw
