So far the allroad has been doing pretty well. I've had it for about a month and havent really had much trouble yet (fingers crossed).

This morning I got up to drive to work, and started the car and took off almost immediately. When driving down hill the engine or the trans, not sure which, made the car stumble or lurch when I started accelerating down hill. Did it 2 or 3 times before it seemed to settle down a bit and take me the rest of the way to work.

I've ordered a vagcom cable but it wont arrive for a week or two so I wont be able to get codes. No unusual lights on the dash.

I know the allroad seems to have a high idle on initial cold start, maybe something to do with that? Or a vac leak? Any ideas on where I should start looking?

Thanks.

The high idle is normal for most cars. How cold was it when you started it up this morning? Really you should let it warm up a bit if you want any longevity out of your turbos and trans. Try letting it warm up for a few mins before you drive and see if there is anything different. Depending on the temp outside when I start it I let it run for anywhere between 5-15 mins (Its usually between 0-25 degrees here in the morning). Even then I dont lay into the throttle much until the temps are up.

My trans shifts a little hard when it is cold because it doesnt warm up as fast as the engine.

Cold... hmm cold for an australian summer, so not at all cold for the US. I guess it would have been 18-20 degrees c or 64-70f. By cold start I meant more that it hadnt been started for 24hr+
