Has anyone ordered any of these mirror housings for there car? I'm not trying to spend $600+ on oem s4 mirrors. Its either this or should I just get them wrapped?

I had a set a year or so ago and they fit and looked good. There have been quite a few people that went this route. Screw wrapping you current ones. That would be a pain in the dick to get right lol

Well I got OEM plastic ones for $100 off the forum, if you look around you can find good deals. The $600 ones your looking at would be the OEM aluminum ones which demand a premium. Not sure on the fit with the ebay ones, but I have had some good luck with ebay suff before.

Which ones did you order or does it not matter witch ones I get? I would definitely not wrap them my self that would suck.

Were they painted brushed aluminum on the plastic?

I'm not exactly sure how the factory did it. But they were matte brushed aluminum plastic ones. Couldn't really tell the difference IMO until you tapped on them

It wouldn't really matter to me what they were made out of as long as they looked good so that would work for me lol

I run the middle linked one, same seller. The finish is holding up well over the last year. Fit is good but not as good as OEM, unless you run your finger along the bottom, no one can tell. I throw a coat of wax and sealant each wash to keep the finish protected.

Save yourself the cost of OEM and get those. I was going to wrap but like said earlier, not worth it, these will look better.

Could you post some pics up of them if you don't mind? Also, of the bottom of where you said it isnt like OEM.

I bought mine used off of this forum for $90 so I'm sure which of those it was, but I'd say they are all just about the same.

The aluminum ones are nice (feel nice and quality, have a real cold feel to them, and have really nice brushed look on the mirror side). However, they get beat up by road debris much more than a normal plastic clear-coated mirror cap. I have had the OEM aluminum ones (on my b6s) and now i have the OEM b7 s4 ones (they are plastic, painted an aluminum color from the factory). I wouldn't recommend waiting around and paying a ton of money for the aluminum ones (which probably wont even be in that great of shape) but rather try to find a OEM B7 S4 set. That's the best middle ground (OEM fitment and color, value).

FWIW market value for a set of used, real aluminum housings should be around $300-$350. That's what I bought (and sold) mine for.

I had the ones sold by Tuning fanaftics (Your 2nd link) on my B6, no issues and I liked them alot. The only downside is that they're made of ABS and the tabs can break if you're not carefull.

Black trim piece is not flush as it was with OEM caps. Not a big deal though.

I ran eBay ones for awhile... they looked pretty good, but I eventually got OEM B7 S4, which definitely look better. The eBay ones were kind of dull out of direct light and looked more gray than metallic.

They are dirty right now, in persone they look very close to OEM alu matte. They match my hypersilver VMRs perfectly

^ Hahah no problem! You'll only need one can of aluminum and one of black. The black is just to use instead of aluminum for a base, so you can save the more expensive aluminum dip. Make sure to heat the cans up and have at it :)
