I post enough so people should have an idea of what I have but I'll review...

2006 a4 2.0T quattro Tip 97,145 miles

Oil change 93,570
TB and all that required stuff was done at 94xxx
PCV replaced at 96,900
Camshaft postion sensor along with 4 coil packs 97,000

Now new stuff.. [wrench]

Fresh oil change $ 76
Spark plugs NGK $30
Camfollower $63
Another Camshaft position sensor (free from warranty)[headbang]

with parts and labor from a local audi shop i'm paying $309 ... Does this sound like a good deal? He's charging $120 for the cam follower install and $20 for the oil change, I'm doing the spark plugs and sensor

Any other stuff that I should take care of while I'm at it? Thinking about replacing the DV because of what I've read but it hasn't showed any signs of failure.

It's a ripoff for changing the cam follower. It's a simple 15mins max with a T30 head, a 17mm and a 13mm. In you case, since you probably have the bnajo bolt, make sure you have the proper triple square bit.

So, $76+30+63=$169 for parts, and $120+20=$140 for labor?

I'd find another shop, they are getting every cent possible out of you..

What about the parts? $76 for oil and filter? $63 for cam follower?

Go to walmart, oil will be no more than $30 and your filter should be no more than $12 at the dealership. Cam followers at dealerships are usually $40.

If you can change your plugs you can change your follower

I feel like you should be able to do an oil changed before any of this.

Really? I've been looking to order a cam follower soon and they are a solid $40-50 online, so I wasn't surprised to see $63 from a shop. The oil is definitely not a very good deal though, I bought this most recently:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007G7PWSA/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And obviously didn't use it all, probably did work out to around $30 worth for one oil change. I've also never had a shop do an oil change though, so no clue what the mark up is supposed to be. Overall it sounds like a bad deal, but it's a quote to have work done at a shop so I'd be more surprised/skeptical if it sounded like a good deal... In my opinion if you're going to have a shop work on your car then choose your shop based 100% on how much you trust them, regardless of price quotes.

Honestly, I think that is a decently fair price for a shop...

For someone that is not mechanically inclined and has never done if before and doesn't want to take the time to learn it is a fair price. Shops have to make a little money too..

But I do agree that the cam follower is a pretty easy task. Might take you 1 hr your first time...

I'm just the type of person that isn't an expert about audis and rather pay for a professional to have it done. Let me clarify that I am personally buying the parts from stores and onine, I'm paying him for the labor and I will get the $20 oil change fee dropped because I know it can't take him 2 hours ($60 hour labor) to change a cam follower. Only thing I felt comfortable changing was the coil packs lol

That changes things, although your part costs are still on the high side. I was wondering what type of shop charges that much for oil/filter + labor for an oil change..

$60/hr is a good rate, and I can understand a shop quoting 2-hours for changing a cam follower.. You could show them the DIY pdf file and see if they will work with you, but many times a shop will want to follow its own procedure for liability reasons.
