Hi folks

I have an 02 A4 Avant with non-bose and an 04 A4 Avant with Bose. I know people love to hate on the Bose but honestly I like it and it's 10x better than my non-bose. I'd like to make some improvements to my 02 with the non-bose; hopefully get it at least on par with the Bose system.

If it were possible, I'd just buy a bose and put it in my 02 but I haven't been able to find any definitive information on how to do this. At a basic level it seems I'd have to run wires from the HU to the trunk and then get a donor wiring harness to hack in at the trunk where the sub/amp is.

On a more realistic approach for a small improvement I am considering buying something like a set of MBQuart 6.5 components just for the front. The next step would be to amplify them but if so; where do people fit amp's for the front speakers? And how do you wire them in, do you buy a breakout harness with RCA, does the HU have to be put in BOSE mode and if so doesn't that mess up the remaining rear speakers and sub?

Now for a quick question on the rear sub. Is there any common basic small upgrade like sticking a new sub in the stock enclosure and can a new amp run off the stock wiring without running any addition cables back there? Again, just a little boost would be fine for me; the Bose has plenty of bass for me but the non-bose system just sounds terrible and weak.

I've been reading through audio forums but haven't really found the info I'm looking for; just a small easy upgrade for a non-bose 02 A4 B6 Avant starting with front speakers and possibly a sub improvement. Any links or suggestions in this area are appreciated.

Thanks!

6.5" splits upfront and replacing the rear sub with a custom box with a 10 or 12" sub will be a huge improvement. Leave rear doors stock, run those off the h/u internal amp. A 3 or 4 channel d class amp can be installed under passenger seat or behind side lining in rear.

You can buy a harness to plug into your h/u that will provide 4 RCA's.
