I need to flush my power steering system and I was wondering if anyone had a step by step? I've searched and found these

But just looking for a detailed one, step by step.

1. Unhook cooler line
2. Drain
3. Rehook cooler line
4. Top reservoir
5. Turn car on and bleed?

Just confused with all these different ways. I want to avoid turning the car on and getting more air into the system, but it currently needs a full flush and bleed.

Lame!
Personally I don't know how much a true "flush" of the system would benefit anyone. And at the cost of the Audi unicorn blood steering fluid it'll cost about $3500.
But, if I was goping to do it I would:
1. Unhook hoses from reservior and remove it and clean it.
2. Reinstall it, leave the "return" line disconnected into another container, plug "return" port on reservior.
3. Fill with new fluid and have someone start the car.
4. Let engine run until you see the clean fluid appear and stop engine. Keep that reservior topped off while engine is running.
5. Reconnect return line to reservior and bleed system as usual: jack up front wheels, idle engine and turn wheel left and right to full lock over and over until it's done.

That's just me, there's a bunch of ways to do it, but when I replaced the rack on my old A6 that's how I did it and it worked great.

most moder racks have a bleeder valve, you could drain it and the reservoir, then refill and bleed it. PS fluid does break down eventually, so if its like mine and its probably 10 years old, it might be a good idea to drain and refill.
