I want to go stage two with my 2.0t tiptronic. Finding a downpipe that isn't total rape on the price is difficult at best, it's an effing piece of metal. Anyway, can I go stage two with just a hfc and my stock dp? I think I read that the bottle neck is between the dp and the stock cat. Thanks in advance, I've searched and just cannot find a clear answer one way or another.

I'm pretty sure most of the gains come from hfc/test pipe so I wouldn't see an issue going stage two if you already upgraded that part.

I've been 2+ with just an hfc and plan on going the Franken turbo route with stock exhaust (for a little while at least).

An hfc will get rid of the bottle neck in the oem cat, whatever you dont DONT buy from RAI. Btw hello RAI.

Awesome, I'm unitronic 1+ right now and I'm probably going to end up at 2+ by the summer. Just need to do the cat and hpfp .

Thanks guys!

$260 for the Techtonics downpipe is fair, i think, given that there aren't a lot of options for us tiptronic guys. Throw their warranty on top, and it's an even more fair deal. I have my HFC sitting in the garage, waiting to get thrown on. Deciding if I want to get the TT DP and run stock exhaust from the MP back or get the used Stasis exhaust in the classifieds which includes the DP...

I've only seen the rai and I think awe downpipe for the tiptronic - and both were a bit expensive for what amounts to a piece of metal. Do you have a link to the techtronic?

This is for the one with the 55mm (stock piping) exit. They have another that is a larger exit size for connecting to aftermarket exhaust systems

I'll second this. I got mine to fit without rubbing anything (finally), but it still hangs stupid low and I've scraped it a few times already. I can't in good conscience recommend buying anything that RAI manufactures. I have/had complaints about everything I've bought from them except possibly the FMIC.

it's an effing piece of metal.

1st off, horrible logic.

2nd, your car is a piece of effing metal, and plastics. go scrap it, you might get $400 for it.
how about your precious computer or smartphone that allowed you to post? whats that worth in materials? $20? and thats being generous.

I was Revo stage 2+ with just a HFC for over a year, well everything else that is needed besides a full exhaust.

Would you rather I say an engineered effing piece of metal?
Don't be a sensitive Sally.. I don't have time to care. Thanks for your input

No! Im saying the company engineers the effing piece of metal. Obviously not for free, hence the markup.

You can always buy 3' of stainless pipe, a couple of flanges, a couple of bungs, and make it yourself.

Don't forget tig welder and a mendral bending machine, also hours of becoming a pro at using those machines. But yes it is a piece of metal, that is crafted by pros. Btw I am waiting for a good used one to come up in the classifies that won't break my bank.

But anyone off the street can TIG right? its like picking up a pencil, and TIG welders aren't even an investment, it's only $4000 for a decent one, Seriously why don't companies who's business it is to make downpipes just gives them out for free and just forget that they need sales to stay open.

FYI, the muffler shops I went to around the north side of Chicago wanted around $250 to fab up a DP and install my HFC with it. It would be galvanized garbage that would be rusted out before the winter is over. $260 for a 2 year warranty, as I said before, seems fair for a proven (I have yet to hear one bad thing about tt) downpipe that is competitively priced considering the alternatives. Oh, also, the muffler shop downpipe would have, without a doubt, been crush-bent.

rai dp here. love that its a true 3inch downpipe because im bt, but hate that it rattled like hell when i first got it until the exhaust shop fixed it when they did the rest of my exhaust.
when i called rai they said it must of been installation error [>_<]

I have one it took forever to get here over a month with "expedited" shipping and it needs to be adjusted as it rattles like shit. But other than that no problem.

I think when you've done all the other mods and your getting desperate or find a great sale then do the cat back. But the HFC is where its at. I put on an 034 and got the Apr stage 2 and it made a bigger difference than the stasis. I am happy with my exhaust now tho. Its all broken it, doesn't drone and sounds great. You'll notice if you only have a HFC with stock cat back, the car doesn't sound the same at all. It sounds great and there is a large increase in flow even at idle
