So.....

A few months back i fitted 'euro' RS4 wheel in my car with slip ring and computor, coded them all into the car and together all buttons lit up, horned worked and no warning lights.....lovely

Since then i've had engine issues so RS4 wheel took a back seat, but now i'm breaking engine in so looking for info on the RS4 wheel

As far as i know the buttons on the left are for:

Top - S = sport mode (seats, suspension, exhaust flaps)
Bottom - SET = for lap timer ?

Right buttons are:

Top - + = volume increase?
Bottom - - = volume decrease?

I never paid much attention to the buttons not working as i have an aftermarket (pioneer) headunit, i don't have lap timer or sport mode functions

I was speaking with Mariusz (the guy whi makes VFIZ) i was about to order one - been on my to do list for a long time, he never tried VFIZ with RS4 wheel and suggested me trying to find info on functionality

After trawling google for hours i've drawn blanks, so connected VCDS today and connected to steering wheel, the fields for buttons 1-4 said 'Non Oper' for non operational and didn't change when i pressed the button...

I tried coding the steering wheel in all combinations but no joy

So why is my steering wheel not recognising buttons being pressed?

Is there anyway of getting buttons to work?

Is there anyway to change what the buttons control?

My car is a 2005 2.0t fsi quattro dtm

Rs4 wheel with multi function slip ring and computor all matched

Thanks, Olly

Ok it seems rs4 wheel coding is 06xxxx

I tried this but coding options only go upto 05xxxx and will not accept 06xxxx

Maybe i need RS4 steering wheel controller?

Current controller is generic multi function steering wheel controller.....

everyone that has this wheel doesn't have the use of the buttons, I don't think you can code it for the S button and the set button to work

yeah those are different buttons than ours, but maruisz sells an add-on module to control the vfiz from (or so it says in the user manual i received with my unit; for those without MFSW)

Oh really, he never mentioned that. I think the first model was controlled from the right stalk...

Thanks for the info bud :)

Thanks bud, spoke to mariusz, even on christmas day (what a guy) told me i can control it via an audi low end nav control unit, waiting to hear back exactly how it's wired

Not sure if this provides any helpful info, but the oem rs4 lap timer function and oil temp function is built into the cluster. Not sure if an oem rs4 cluster would help open up the options.

Thanks guys, placed order with Mariusz for vfiz and controller

I'm still puzzled why steering column computor doesn't recognise the buttuns being pressed, it recognises everything else horn push, full beam, wipers, turn signal mfa etc but buttons appear to have no comms.

so i have made a little headway on wheel coding

from the beginning.....

i fitted RS4 s/wheel to my car along with 12 pin slipring and steering column computor ending in Q so all is compitable with MFSW

now the buttons don't work and i am unable to have the wheel coded correctly

the problem seems to be there is no coding option for RS4 wheel, i'm told this is because when wheel / column computor was fitted the computor learns car 'settings'

so with that in mind my question is - where does the column computor 'learn' this data from to provide coding options for my car?

Thanks, Olly
