The left bulb is going out and coming back on lately. I get the alert on the dash that the bulb is out. But then it comes back on. I'd like to replace it but don't have any idea if I can buy bulbs online or if I have to get them from the dealership. I don't want to have to pay the dealership price if I can avoid it. Where can I get the bulbs and how do I know they will fit? Also, are these hard to replace?

I gave up on changing them myself, I rather pay someone to do it then deal with the hell of taking off the bumper. I did however get the passanger side bulb removed without
removing it. As far as bulbs, honestly I bought some off ebay for 70 bucks (2) and they have been fine for over a year now.

Do not but cheap bulbs!!!
They may or may not last but they will definitively create a foggy film inside the headlight. Take a close look at your projector glass (not the plastic lens) and I bet you can already see haze.

Morimoto 3Five 4300K bulbs (http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=3179). $75/pair, excellent light output, same as OEM. TheRetrofitSource.com is a very reliable vendor and has some of the best quality bulbs you can buy. I'd highly recommend them.

As far as replacing the bulbs? I replaced both of mine without removing the bumper. You have to get creative, and its a pain, but its doable.

Having said that, removing the bumper really isn't that bad, hardest part is getting at the bolts behind the wheel well liners.

What you're looking for are D1S bulbs for the b7.

There's a DIY thread here on how to change the bulbs without needing to remove the bumper. Easy on the passenger side, a few more steps needed on the driver side. It's a PITA as Charles said above, especially when you're doing it in freezing temps.

^ Correct... the bumper does not have to come off... the driver side is accessible by moving the Windshield washer and power steering reservoirs.

I bought Ziza 6000k bulbs from ecstuning, about to install the headlights since I'm doing a halogen-to-bi xenon conversion. I'll let you know how they look

6000k? Eww. Waay too blue for my liking.

Yeah, go lower.. cooler temperature = less illumination at night plus the blue is a bit distracting to other drivers.
