you don't want the 8000K you will loose light output with the higher temp...stick with the stock HID bulbs

a lot of it has to do w/ the optics that Audi uses. The valeo optics on the previous b6 dont lend itself to the blueish/purplish tint to the light, unlike the Benz/BMW's/S2K. So in order to compensate for that you'd have to switch out your bulbs to 5300k bulbs...and like other have said if you go higher in kelvin you'll actually loose lighting performance.

Hope that helps...

I think 5400K is the closest you can get to 6000K in terms of D1S bulbs(Protocold's). I have a hard time looking for D1S. But your B5 does look nice~

Buy the audi lighting kit. Then once you have it, you can tune the light color by switching out just the HID bulbs, which is a helluva lot easier than refitting a non-hid headlight with bulbs, ballast, and ignitors. Switching the hid bulb isn't hard and you can get phillips hid bulbs off ebay for $50-75 a bulb that will work with your stock audi hid setup.

Plus, you've gotta love the adaptive headlights bending your lights around corners [up]

Definitely get the Lighting Package. stock HIDs will be 4300K, which is crystal white. The new lighting package bulbs are D1S. There aren't many choices available right now in that bulb-type. D2S, which is what's ALL over ebay and whatnot, go through tons of different color temps.

Don't go above 6,000K, cuz otherwise you'll be experiencing a great deal less light on the road. I'm holding out WAITING desperately for some 6,000K D1S HID bulbs. just gotta hold out.
