Just got a 2012 3.0T Prestige, how do you turn on the adaptive high beams?

You can't, as it's a Euro-only feature. You can thank the antiquated DOT lighting laws for the omission.

What the fuck, if I get EU headlight housings and VAG COM can I do it?

Also don't all the new Benz's and BMW's have adaptive LED Highbeams? What does that have to do with DOT?

I wonder if this can be enabled with VAG?

In North America, they may have automatic high beams, as does the A/S8. There was a thread a little while back regarding the new Audi Matrix headlights (which will be available on the A/S8 for 2015 - Europe-only). I don't know what the specific language of the DOT regs is, but essentially they don't allow anything that's not specifically approved. Remember, this is the agency that was pulled, kicking and screaming, into the halogen age several decades ago. Before then, it was sealed beam "technology" for everyone.

Thats great and all, but how can this be enabled on our cars? fuck da police!

If you could figure it out, you'd be a hero to us all. It's entirely possible that some required hardware (e.g. camera, light sensor) is missing on North American models.

when enabled it through vag com an error came up saying the module was missing, maybe oem plus could chime in?

It would appear the North American cars have the same option code as RoW models, but it has a caveat that the main beam assist is not included.

There is a specific mirror assembly that is for the main-beam assist and it works with the image processing system for this function. The portion of the mirror that controls the main beam assist seems to be wired to the door control modules on either side of the car. I would then suspect it works with the central electrics module for this function since that controls headlight functions.

Curious as to what coding you did change Sciblades?

I bet you got an error that you are missing the module that lives in the proper mirror which controls main beam assist. So an interior mirror change and possibly some wiring from the mirror, but knowing Audi the wiring may be there in every car. Then some coding.

Who wants to be the first person to try it?[:D]

Cheers,

What do you mean with adaptive high beams? There is an assist, which is switching between low and high beam, not more.
No dynamic curve light, no gps based functions, no sliding lightrange ...
