I have had my wheels plasti-dipped for the last few months, and I'm pretty much sold on the look--absolutely love it.
So now that i can notice the dip is starting to chip away in certain spots, I think i'm ready to commit to powdercoating them.
Anyone know of any good shops in the south bay? What's a fair price I should be expecting? I've been debating if i should even take the money to coat the stock wheels or just buy a used set from someone whose are already black.

I used Rotiform just a couple of months ago.
Their price is $80 per wheel (one of the lowest I found) and the quality is very good.
Highly recommended [up]

i used Primo powder coating in HB. Awesome job on matching the color i was going after. owner is awesome and very attentive to what you need. took only 3 days.
Key is the Pre-prep. (wheels off the car, tires off), Price is very very reasonable, unless you are looking for 2-step paint process.
hope this helps.

Thanks, but HB (assuming you meant huntington and not hermosa) is a haul for me, especially given i'd have to borrow a car lol
What do you mean the Pre-prep--is that something i would do or the shop would? Currently my tires have plasti-dip on them
also, how much did it cost you?

HB= Huntington Beach. Pre-prep. means (you do): wheel off the car, tires off and delivery. if you want to pay below 90 dollars. Price, i suggest you to talk to Danny the owner. He can give you a quote according to your painting needs. every case is different. i made it easy for him to do my wheels, so my price does not apply to your wheels (in General). My only concern is not how cheap he is, but how good he is to match my sample color and have been doing enough powder coating to know how to control the temperature to prevent the wheels from warping.
As for for painting your current set of wheels. you are better off buying a set of spares which helps you in two ways. (IMO)
1. future selling of your powder coating wheels.
2. in situations such as this.
3. in case if any of your wheels is bent and require to be repaired.

deng i paid 40 a wheel here in riverside to powder coat some 19x8.5 19x9.5 wheels at CTE powdercoating. Everything does cost more out in the OC and beach areas and got it done in one day. drop off early morning and pick up at end of day

want to keep the matte black look that the plasti dip had, i love the contrast of the matte black with the gloss black finish of the ride.
That place sounds amazing. If i could find a place in the LA area that had that price/timeframe, i'd do it in a heartbeat :-/
