View Full Version : How many miles have you gotten out of your factory original suspension?...

I ask because I'm looking at moving up from my B5 A4 to a B7 A4 and am wondering if it's worth holding out for cars with sport suspension or if A4's of around 65k miles will be in need of new suspension anyway?

Thanks for any feedback!

80k and counting, lowered on sport dampners and eibach springs.

If you find the right car with sport suspension, awesome, but don't let that hold you back. Depending on what your ultimate goals are, full suspensions for this car range from $500 to $2500 and up, so lots of options. To answer your question though, 42k on stock shocks with no sign of wear.

82k no issues with the stock shocks and springs. Just replaced the control arms at 78k though.

104k on factory sport suspension. But I believe I'm having control arm noises arising, so, suspension will become my next project.

98k on non-sport suspension. Swapped to ST coils because I wanted to, not because I needed to.

I had around 150 miles (hundred, not thousand) on my OE suspension before I switched to KW. [>_<]

65k on factory sport suspension - no issues that I know of, but since I'm replacing rotors & pads this week, I'll have the suspension looked at as well just to be sure.

Old car had a little over 60k on the stock sport suspension with no problems, new car is just over 50k on the stock non-sport and no problems either

102k on sport suspension. No issues. It could be a little more comfortable, but that may be the nature of the beast. Might swap to some coils if I'm feeling rich down the line.

Just hit 129k on mine. No issues to speak of.

-Probably sent while driving my A4 from my Nexus 7-

One of my OEM non-S rear springs snapped at around 120k.

The previous owner, winters and harsh new england roads haven't been kind to this car. Swapped to S-tech Tein's on all 4, courtesy of a fellow AZ member.

put 116k on stock sports suspension setup then changed the springs to HnR (original shocks) and have another 21k on this setup. Shocks are holding up nicely....

Keep thinking I'm going to need to change them soon but absolutely no issues to date.

Nice to see 130,000+ miles is attainable. My last car was a Pontiac and turned to crap after about 85,000; I'm quickly approaching that mileage in Der Audi.

I think Vizi is around 170k on OEM suspension.

For OEM it lasts pretty well, I replaced mine somewhere around the 125k mark.
