What radar band do police use? I just got a valentine one and I'm getting so many damn beeps! Trying to eliminate as many false alerts as possible. Any programming recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

most cops use Ka. every once in awhile they will use K band but not very often and hardly any use X but a few cities still. i know with my 9500xi Mb, Audi, Cadillac backup sensors will set off my K band

FYI, a lot of those blind spot detectors on German cars, including those by Audi, trigger the Valentine 1....

yea in all honesty my radar goes off all the time. but very rarely do i get a false KA band alert.

in my view, its saved me 3 times, so it has paid for itself

V UNO

how do you like it?

i like it a lot.

I have it mounted to the right of my mirror a little above it. the wire runs along the headliner and down the pillar then into the fuse compartment and the under the glovebox and up the side right into the cig lighter. works for me. starting to become exposed tho so i need to redo it.

The detector itself i like. From the looks to the functionality it serves the purpose i need it to

1. Don't speed.
2. CHP, which is who is most likely to nab you, uses lidar, Ka, and pacing. Throw in the occasional airplane, and you're screwed.
3. Don't speed.

How do you not speed when some freeways still have 55 or 45 mph limits? I'd fall asleep and crash at those speeds[;)]

Who needs a VIN?

Seriously. They just stage police cars, radio ahead. It's pretty common.

I've found that so long as you're moving with traffic and not sticking out, CHP leave you alone. It's a major PITA for all involved to pull someone over in traffic. At night, I dont go over 80, even when it's clear. 78 sometimes just to be sure.

As far as false alerts for the V1, set it up in "Logic" mode and that kills about 80% of the false hits. You'll see an "L" in the display. Ka band is almost always a cop, even if he's not 'detecting', he's got the radar gun on. If you get a laser attack, well, not much you can do, other than it tells you he got you.

Well, to be honest, you were driving an Evo and not just a Lancer. Maybe Mitsu should have called the Evo the Lancer w/ the Street Racer Package

Wait, was that a citation description or just something they wrote down to describe your car?
