Hi All,
Is there a licence plate solution for people that need to run a front plate. I live in NYC.
I don't want the dealer to drill into my grill and I'm not sure i like the look of the tow hook mount.
On the older B8 models, there use to be a licence filler plate for the grill.
Did some research and it doesn't look like the B8.5 has that option.
People that have a B8.5 and require a front plate, what solution did you find for a hole free grill?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm looking to get some rare earth magnets in the spring and fix them to the back of the grille where the plate would hold, but I'll do it if/when I paint my grille black.

tow hitch screw is usually the easiest alternative, but sometimes can be regarded as ricey

I bought my car used and they had used sticky back velco, I haven't decided what I will do yet but it works really well so far.

I was kinda hoping for a factory solution, doesn't look like there's any out there for the b8.5 grill.
I might have to go with a tow hook area bracket or the magnet mod.
I'm not too crazy abou these 2 options tho, but that seem to be the only choice for a hole free grill..

You are in the same boat that I was months ago.....
I bit the proverbial bullet and just drilled the license plate holder in the center where it is centered. KILLED me to do it.
You could do my Rock Crawler mod on my Jeep 93 YJ and just use crappy old brown extension cords from Wally World and wrap it around the bumper! My wife still gives me shi& about this......but I like the redneck look.....LOL
(actually never do that mod for your Audi.....but if you did and took a picture of it you would RULE just for taking the chance at it!!!!!)

I have the non-motorized version that Dr GP posted from Swift motorsports. I think I paid $35 shipped for mine. I almost never have it in the display position and mostly use it for street parking in patrolled areas or driving in high enforcement areas. So far after more than a year it is holding up fine. My driveway is pretty steep and I've scraped the plate twice but never so much that it was noticeable unless you got down close and looked at it.

If you had to do it again would you do the motor version and would you mount it the same way?
Can you snap a quick pic if your mounted now, hidden and displayed?

Throw it on the dash? I risk it and haven't been pulled over but I'm sure it's gonna happen at some point. Not a fan of the tow hook look at all.

I'm guessing something like this wouldn't work? It came with my RS4 grille.

I would not. The motorized unit isn't one touch so you have to know how long to hold the remote to deploy the plate. Also the motor hangs lower than the rest of the assembly so I would scrape
