Finally the day has come to get tuned. I am going with GIAC with AWE Pulley. Im not sure if i should be this excited about it or not but i am really curious how the car is going to perform. Any stage 2 guys chime in with personal experience it will be appreciated. Im kind of curious how those 335's are going to do. Are they pulling or falling behind lol. Anyways thought id share the exciting news.

Are you going from stock to stage 2? That is what I did 4 months ago and I STILL can't wipe this grin off my face.

Here's a taste

Yeah going from stock to stage 2. Wow that was a big clutch slip of launch. Whats that B5 putting down hp/tq wise

chudiddy
09-16-2013, 07:48 AM
I'm not sure exactly what the B5 numbers are. Yeah the clutch slip was pretty bad. It only slips from 1-2 but obviously bc the stock clutch can't handle that amount of tq. Otherwise, it's fine on a normal basis.

Yeah im not to big on going from a dig so hopefully the other gears won't slip. Preety nice runs though both cars sound amazing and pull hard! 👍👌

Yes, bottom line is you will absolutely love it. Give us some feedback once you get it

I went from Stg1 => Stg 2
It's a different animal from stock that's for sure.
Retains it's driveability though... Give it a good 2 weeks to adapt though... when I picked it up from the dealership after going stage 2 it felt like it did before... but after a few days it started feeling much more "anxious"...

Enjoy!

(BTW - I've had 0 slip with my Stg 2 set up - but I don't launch the car - if you respect your clutch you'll get good life out of it)

Make sure to give it some time, not sure if you'll feel a huge difference on the drive home. When I went from stock to stage 1 it took about a day, for some reason (maybe it was in my head) I didn't REALLY start to feel stage 2 in all it's glory for a few days after going stage 1-->stage 2.

I went from GIAC Stage 1 to APR Stage 2 and am very happy with the results. I am sure GIAC Stage 2 would be equally as awesome.

Yeah give it at least 60 miles then stop for a coffee then drive again. ECU need to get used to it.

I went from GIAC Stage 1 to Stage 2 to DSG Tune. Each jump was noticeable. The Stage 2 GIAC was the most fun as you get the extra boost and feel the pull with daily driving. Driving is so much more fun just jetting around town. You are going to love the GIAC stage 2 tune....and if you have a DSG, the transmission tune is probably the best thing about the B8.5s, it is a completely different car with the shift points, so much smoother and faster that it makes you wonder why Audi did not release the transmission stock like this. GIAC did an amazing job for our cars, you will love it. After 10k on this tune, I still can't wait to drive each morning.

I'd say that about three cold starts and 20 miles in between should be enough to adapt, if any at all...

PLEASE share the results, im getting bored with APR S2 giving me 5 psi max cause its 75 degrees outside jeeez.... I hope Giac doesnt do this as well to force you to buy their CPS......sigh...

Although I didn't have GIAC, I honestly felt this was the biggest change too! The pulley really made a big difference in driving around town and having the extra grunt down lower in the band.

Curious to see how you like your increase in the pulley/tune.

Well guys i finally got the car tuned and all i can say is WOW! The power was there right away and like everyone said it still needs to adapt. I am speechless honestly the power is there no matter what gear or RPM its just there and it is so smooth. Who ever is wanting a tune i would suggest going Stage 2 from the start you will not regret it. Thanks for everyones input in the previous posts!

Good to hear there's another satisfied customer. Do you have a 6 speed?

Care to elaborate on the 5 psi max statement

Well, ever since it's been hot, humid, etc... The most I see on the awe vent gage is about 5psi. I do not have a CPS yet, due to time restraints and money, of course, but even when I switched to the apr 100oct file, I felt the power increase, but still stuck on around 5psi, and it was even much cooler last Saturday night. ?.
I need to do some logs and then I can see what is going on...

I have a strange feeling the vacuum line to the boost gage might be slightly crimped.

As soon as I log, I will start a new thread with my findings.

I am however, curious if anyone else with apr s2, without the cps, has similar issues...

What other mods do you have? Exhaust? Intake? Or just pulley and stage 2 tune? I contacted local tuning shop and they told me intake and exhaust is a must for stage 2 GIAC tune...

It is not a must but if u want the most out of the tune, it's recommended to have exhaust and intake but def not mandatory.

Did you head over to Omaha? Iowa has ZERO tuning shops (or culture for that matter LOL) so I do meet quite a few iowans at Sublime Speed sometimes.

You are going to LOVE stage 2!!!!

They are a fantastic shop for sure. They fabbed my cold air intake for my 3.0T that reaches down into the foglight vent.

Yes, Austin@GIAC does this on his car, was just talking about it with him at Big SoCal Euro show last weekend. 50/50 or 60/40 mix are what a couple folks I spoke with are running on the race map. I have yet to try race or E85 mix yet.

I've been mixing it off and on for about 6 months now. I have yet to get a specific file trimmed for the blend in race mode, so with certain mixtures, you can potentially trigger lean fuel trim codes. I haven't had seen any other issues besides that, but use it at your own risk!

Very glad to hear you're enjoying your car! [drive]

For those who have GIAC stage 2: how much better is the ride after u flash the DSG software. Getting stage 2 done Monday. With DSG flash I will have to drive a minimum of 1hr to get the flash done. Thanks in advance.

What would you say the additional gains are from routing it down there?

Completely worth it. You definitely feel more torque through the whole power band and get higher shift points. Compliments the Stage 2 quite well.

Do you know if there's a "stock" program that a person can switch to for the DSG (if one was to flash to GIAC's DSG software), i.e. in case you didn't want characteristics of higher shift points for some driving situations? Or is your experience that the DSG seems to have the same characteristics as stock during partial to half-throttle applications?

Cold air completely away from the motor for one.
Ynnekdude ran 12.9 without the intake, then ran 12.6 with the intake... But so many factors come into play. All I know is I love the intake, and it remains cool to the touch even after hard runs.

Statistically, cold air intakes from the bottom of the car have consistently created more gains than short rams, even across multiple platforms.

Could we show some logs to prove it actually performs better, meaning cooler iat or so?

That would be ideal and a win for most people trying to get every last bit out these 3.0ts...

No way to choose stock mode after DSG tune in the current release, not sure you would want to anyhow. They do have a satisfaction policy, check with GIAC direct.

It was a boost gage issue, I logged this morning on 93tune and saw 2092hPa which is about 2 bar which about 15psi, so all is good!!

Another note, i saw 1385kg/h which if I recall is about 385 g/s which is about 481hp :)
