Weather tech mats?

Anyone here have experience with Weather tech mats for the b8.5 ? I had monster mats in my b6 and haven't found a mat that fit b8.5 and compares to them. My car should arrive late December and I'd like to have a suitable winter mat on hand before I pick the car up. Suggestions?

I love the mats. I have the trunk liner as well. The only problem I have is with the weather tech trunk liner things tend to slide around a bit.

Why the hell did they design the mat go half way up the dead pedal?? Melted snow from my shoes runs down the dead pedal and in behind the mat which then pools on the carpet. Sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

First thing you should do on any car. Thick ones are nice if your weather sucks, but laser cut ones are awesome.

How are they when wet? They look like they would become slick, almost look like they are hard to the touch. I've never seen them in person so I'm quite curious as to how they perform. I'm right out side of Chicago so the winter weather is harsh and wet. Any description of how they are on cold wet mornings? I've got this fear of slipping on a cold slick mat only to fall backwards out of my car and be impaled on some random object outside my car. Kinda crazy but still a valid fear in my book.

I think that was the start of an episode of Six Feet Under, guy puts his car in reverse, leans out for some reason and falls...is killed by the car as it backs up over his head. Ugh!

One of my first mods on by B8. I started with the all-weather mats and have since moved to the digital fit ones which are much better.

They are laser fit to the specific model car, high sidewalls so liquid can't get out, superior materials and craftsmanship as well.

When she passed, you got to see a flawless couch, that at some point in time was a very stylish couch. Why pay the money for style if it is gonna be covered? Would you cover your 21 year old girlfriend's face to preserve it? Or enjoy it? The value of Audi's fine quality floormat's is your enjoyment of them. If you are ok with rubber mat under your toes, buy a 1985 Toyota Truck, they came standard...

Meh, I like it cos the mats make it way easier to clean. Plus this is the floor we're talking about. If I have to put the amount of time I spend looking at various parts of the car into a percentage, I probably spend less than 1% looking at the floor so it really doesn't matter to me. If anything I would argue that the weathertech takes away the plushy feels of the carpets but to me it is a small sacrifice for ease of cleaning.

It's not about covering something up. You're removing the OEM floor mats and installing same colored ones (black) that can easily be maintained. You hose them off when they're dirty and back in they go once you dry them. Simple. Now I don't have to worry about wearing out the stock floor mats or bothering with vacuuming them out because they got dirty. Plus, if you drop something on them or track anything in, it won't stain/ruin the mats. Fact remains that carpet wears out. I'd rather have a barrier between it and my feet than not. After not having them in any of my other cars, I had to deal with dirty and worn out mats. No more... Plus, for me it's a big plus because I don't have to worry about tracking in clay off the courts and having to clean it all up later.

Know what kills that new car smell everyone loves? Wet, musty carpets/mats. I've used WeatherTech in prior cars and thought I'd try the Audi mats this time. They're great- not as heavy as WeatherTech, but do they need to be?

I would also switch out the wheels with cheap wheels in case you curb one.

Why not just properly wash the matts that look and feel so good from the factory? My wife is a Weathertech fan, and I store her nice floor mats in the garage. You are going to have to wash your floor mats whether they are nice factory ones or nice replacements, it just takes a bit longer to wash the factory ones, isn't it worth it?

-Too expensive and time consuming to do what you mentioned. (people do upgrade seats and bumpers though)
-Your shoes are always dirty and the floor is always the dirtiest part of the interior.
-The mats are only $200.
-Removing and cleaning all the mats takes a matter of 2 minutes.
-They don't stain or require soap/scrubbing to clean like factory ones.

No, it isn't! The factory ones take time to dry out and with the amount of dirt I could track in or passengers could track in, it's not worth it to me. My Weathertech mats look great and because they are the same color as the floor, you don't even notice that they're not factory. They fit great and snap into place like the OEM ones (which is why you have to remove the factory fabric ones). And the trunk liner is even better. You go try and clean out your trunk with some rogue soda can decides to bust on the way back from the grocery store and tell me how it works out with the factory liner in there all soaked up. For me, I just dry the liquid out and wash the mat. Done and done!

You make it seem like the rubber mats are uglier than the factory fabric ones. I'd tend to agree with you if they were the regular kind and not the laser cut ones. The laser cut ones wrap around everywhere and to me, look like a custom better fit. They don't work in all vehicles/color combos, but with my all black interior, you don't even notice them.

I've had only my OEM mats in my car (purchased May 2009) and they look perfect. Yes, I live in California but have taken the car to the snow and we gets lots of rain in the winter. My mats look perfect other then some matting where my gas pedal heel rests. I just take care of my car. That said, the only time I'd use all weather plastic/rubber mats is if I moved back to MN (never happening). Even then, they'd come out of the car the day the last ounce of snow melted. In snow belt states, there is definintely value in the weather tec mats.

Yes, I also live in California and have no reason to really have the digital fit/laser cut mats. Other than going to the snow in Tahoe and Mammoth, the occasional rain, kids in and out in baseball and soccer cleats, dirty feet from MB riding, gum on my shoe that I did not see, leaky supermarket items (also have the full trunk liner in the AMG/M3 and rear cargo liner in the Yukon), the ability to simply hose them off, etc., I really have no reason to have them.

I put my feet and items full of dirt, snow and crap on the mats/liner, I don't marvel at their beauty.

When I sold my Cayenne I left the Weather Tecs in, and sold the perfect OEM mats for almost what a dealer would get new for them. Not bad when the carpets in the Cayenne were flawless for resale and the cash received from the OEM mats nearly offset the cost of the WT mats.

I didn't check specifically, but they are comparable in "flexibility" to the monster mats I had in my GTI (assuming you have experience with monster mats). They are plenty durable and catch most everything. I like them much better than the digital fit mats (a friend has them in his S4), as they aren't intrusive/ clunky at all.

I use the Audi OEM all weather mats (http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S4-Quattro-3.0T/Interior/Floor_Mats/ES2100349/) year round and never use the carpeted mats. I like the look and feel of the ribbed rubber (twss) mats over the carpet and it's easier to clean. I'm also very particular about kicking the snow off my feet before getting in (although passengers are another thing to be honest - luckily dont have 'em much).

The all weather mats seem to have good grip when wet - I remember reading some folks complain that the weathertech mats are slippery when wet.
