So I have a strange problem. Was just driving to work listening to my ipod with no problems. Made a phone call again no problem and listened to the ipod again. Made another phone call then turned the car off to get gas. Pumped my gas got back in and when the Ipod went on the sound was only coming out of the left rear speaker and it was extremely loud and crackling like a radio station that wasn't in tune. Went to XM and it was the same problem. Turned the car off, not fixed. Made a phone call to test the speakers and they worked fine for that. Went back to the ipod and still had the extreme volume and static. Anyone ever get anything close to this in their car? What the hell happened? Did the amp go? Im at work now and kind of hoping it might work itself out but I have no idea

Try performing a soft reset on the MMI, sometimes my Bluetooth won't connect for music after a call , you hold three buttons and let go and it will power cycle. If I remember correctly it's the menu button, main MMI knob (push down), and the button on the top right of the buttons surrounding the knob.

Thanks for the tip. I actually went out to the car after it had been off for about 20 mins and it seems to have fixed itself. It probably did have something to do with the the bluetooth from the phone.

Someone else ran into this same exact thing. Seems to be linked to an issue of streaming media from the phone while flipping over to a bluetooth call if I remember correctly. A reboot of the MMI didn't work for them. What ended up fixing it was the car sitting for a while (i.e. long enough for the MMI to shut down and the hard drive to spin down.) I forget how long the car needs to be off for that to happen, but I think it's more than 5 minutes.

Yeah the weird part was that I dont stream media over blue tooth I just use my ipod touch with the MMI cable. Im assuming though it had to do with switching from the bluetooth call over to the media

Ya, that's what I meant because you have a 2011 and can't stream across Bluetooth natively. Only the 3G+ MMI have that ability and those are installed in the B8.5 cars (i.e. 2013+).
