View Full Version : Borla Exhaust Installed!

Thought I would post my impressions of the Borla exhaust seeing as not many have it and there's very little about it on the forum.

All I have to say is WOW! Sounds awesome to me, it has a nice rumble at idle and really screams at WOT. Haven't heard the other exhausts so not sure how it compares but I'm very impressed.
The tips look great and fitment was excellent. Didn't have any issues with install. Spent some time on the highway and there definitely isn't any drone. I ended up getting it for a good price from Amazon.com and it was the last one in stock. AWE was my first choice but the Borla system was the same price with downpipes as the AWE was w/o.

Hopefully I'll have the opportunity soon to make a good video.

Cool. Ya, it's nice that you can get these through Amazon instead of the sky-high pricing of the private dealers/manufacturers.

BTW, did you happen to take any pics of the system out of the box, pre-installation, etc.?

I'm very interested in this product and really looking forward to your video. In addition to the sound, glad to hear that you are satisfied with the fit, tips, etc. Who did the install and, if you don't mind, how much did the install cost?

I had EP Werks in Indianapolis do the install, 2 hrs of labor.

Unfortunately no, I just received it yesterday and had it installed today. Worked pretty much the whole time in between so didn't take any pics.

Thanks for the review. How much louder is the Borla exhaust compared to stock? Stock sounds almost silent to me..

^^^ Yep, see that one a while back, but user videos can give a different perspective. Seems like a fairly quiet exhaust except for when you need it not to be. OP, would you say that's true? Is it as quiet as the stock exhaust is when cruising or when driving civilized?

Since you'd rather jump to conclusions instead of trying the search yourself to see that it doesn't show the product: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=B8%20S4%20Borla%20Exhaust. Nothing on Amazon shows a full exhaust including downpipes. I searched at length and couldn't find it, hence my request.

Glad someone is thinking outside the Audi forum box.
Borla probably has one of the highest quality/best performing exhausts in the market for the price.
Most forum members seem to push the AWE, MILLTEK, and APR as the end all/be all but I would take a Borla system over them any-day.

When searching for the product the model number is 140403. You can just search borla 140403 on amazon to find it.

Basically it has a little growl at idle, louder and much deeper than stock but you don't hear it a lot from inside. There's some nice sound with pretty much any application of throttle, and it's amazing when driving aggressively.

Cruising at highway speed is very quiet. You can hear a little rumble to it, just enough to want to floor it lol.

Overall it's far louder than stock. I've hear it's a tad louder than AWE with resonated DPs. Sounds like a true sports car now, the way it should come from the factory. Sound means a lot to me so it really elevates the driving experience from my point of view.

I wouldn't have told you to search for that specific set of words if I hadn't tried it myself and yes, as the other poster told you, it was listed on the page when you did this search... you just concentrated on the AWE results (which are triggered because the Borla one is not in stock currently) and decided to come back here to teach me a lesson with your snarky remark. lol

Part number 140403 is the one that fits. Lrn 2 rd. [:p]

Not sure how much it weighs but I've often found quoted shipping weights to be very inaccurate.

Word. It's just some bolts man. If you can't handle an exhaust install, forget working on your own car. Now, if you're just lazy and would rather pay someone to do it cuz you don't want to crawl under it, that's another story.

I would come to an Indy meet. I would love to see the alu kreuz in action. I have awe with dp. Also, I have a rs4 grill waiting to be installed. I live 5 minutes south of the city. Epwerks did my work as well. We should all go stage 2 and see if they would give us a deal. I have the 100k warranty, but the new port flash is intriguing.

I had a Borla on my C5 Corvette for 7 years and it never droned.

It does sound good.

I had a borla exhaust when I had my first gen. GS300. It droned after a while, or at least I just started to notice it after a while haha. However, I don't think we should be comparing different cars.

I'm just afraid of changing things on a car now, as I have modified the last 3 cars I have had and have ended up wanting to undo what I did. I finally got rid of my B8 A4 with KO4 which had water/meth at one point because I was tired of loud rough riding cars. Although quicker than the S4, I love the S4 stock. Who knows what will happen in the future.

Thanks! Specifically interested in the light acceleration while in 7th gear. Doesn't even have to be in 10 mph increments, just trying to get a feel for how loud it is while lightly accelerating from higher speed while on the highway. Really loving the sound of this exhaust from the videos posted so far.
