i just got back from LA (my first time there). I was only there for a long weekend, and man, I saw more high end autos there in such a short span of time and in any major metropolitan area.

I saw, more S4s that I lost count, couple S5s, R8, lambos, all sorts of Porsches, couple Ferraris, and fully chromed out C63 AMG.

This was just in the santa monica to beverly hills (wilshire blvd) corridor. I mean DAMN, it's a car enthusiasts dream. Although, the traffic was also the worst I've ever experienced. [:D]

location is key.

santa monica/ beverly hills is home to very large amounts of money.

some might be enthusiast, but others keep in mind just like to show their money as well

nevertheless, i always enjoy going down there just to look at all the cars :D

My dad lives in E Pennsylvania. When he comes to San Diego, he just likes to drive around and look at cars. He says it's like a constant rolling car show.

LoL where in NoVa are you from? I'm originally from Fairfax county and there is a huge high end car scene there, I mean shit AoA is in Fairfax county and if you in the Tyson's area frequently you will run into one of the guys that drives that B8 RS4 around all day long. Not saying the scene there is better than here but depending on where you are it shouldn't be that much of a difference.

I think California is/was the largest exotic car market in the world. S cars are what soccer moms drive and their sons/daughters drive A4 or A6's...

During the summer you can also catch nice cars cruising up and down the Malibu coast. I've had the pleasure of driving behind a Pagani and have also seen a Maserati MC12. I think the westside in general has the nicest cars.

Like others have said, all about where you go. Some areas of SoCal are pretty deceptive. Head out into some parts of IE and you'll find nothing but run-down old BMW's falling apart and riced out...

Unfortunately, Orange County is pretty bad (or good?) when it comes to high end cars. I'm pushing 30, work hard, educated, etc... S5 is about as good as I can hope for right now. While buying my S5, I got to listen to a mommy and daddy buying their 17yo kid a S4. Owner of my company purchased his kid new G37... On way to work I see a kid driving brand new ISF to high school every day.

Haha, good times?

I work at a nice high school and these kids drive to school in Hummers, S5's Mercedes, Jaguars.
These kids are fortunate.

It's cuz the weather doesn't ruin our cars in the winter...fewer potholes, no snow, no salt etc...no need to buy winter tires or have a 2nd car also helps fund a nicer car [:D] Used cars from are even valued higher if they 'grew up' in CA.

That being said, you were definitely in one of the nicest parts of LA...
