I have a Brembo BBK on the front of my B8 S4. I changed out the pads that came with the kit for Hawk DTC-60 pads for a track day. The brakes/pads get the car slowed down in a hurry and there is zero fade, but, they are very loud. It isn't a squeeling sound, more like metal on metal. I always shut the ABS off at the track. Anyone have an idea what this might be? When I changed back to the Brembo street pads the Hawk pads looked fine as did the rotors. I'm tempted to run the Brembo street pads at the next track-day. You can hear the sound in this little bit of video I shot. http://vimeo.com/72997298

My experience is race pads like that make noises most people are not use to. It will vary slightly based on the types of pads, but a metal-on-metal sound is not uncommon as long as everything else checks out (no debris in the pads, bedded/installed properly, etc.). I would personally stick to running the DTC-60, or some other race pad (Pagid or Carbotech have several good options). These cars are beasts on the brakes, and you will tear through street pads.

I run Carbotech's with my Alcon BBK, for daily and on the track. Everyday, they squeal, scrape, sheer and make all kinds of noises when Im on or off the brakes. It's normal with track pads.

Run with Pagid Yellow RS19 or RS29.
