Been thinking about upgrading to a flat bottom wheel as I like to track my car and will appreciate the functionality as well as the form.
I stopped by my local dealer parts department as was quoted $830 (list price $1037) for an 2013 OEM replacement with airbag, function buttons, etc plus one hour labor ($125) to have a tech install. Based on what I've read this is a very good price. Could I be missing something?

That DOES sound good if it comes complete...interesting. It could be on closeout for some reason. There's always a huge number of various steering wheels on the closeout list, doesn't seem to be any logic as to why they're clearanced when they are.

I walked, with the parts guy, to a new 2013 S4 in the showroom and told him "this is exactly what I'm looking to order" as I reached inside the vehicle and grasped the wheel.
It was ordered this afternoon. I'll let you know when it arrives.

OP paid almost half of what you were quoted for a 6MT R8 V10 at Rector Audi.
Airbag another $450.
DYI install.

That's f**king good deal! You can actually save yourself from paying labor by DIY.

T55 is just not more than 3 bucks from Sear. Seeing how many times I did the swap to my own cars and my friends' cars, it's worth every penny.

when i did mine my sears didn't have t55 singles, only part of a $50 dollar set. autozone sells single bits for $1.99 though :)

Make sure to check with the parts department that this includes an airbag, which if you have a B8 cannot be reused with a newer flat-bottom wheel. The post-facelift flat-bottom steering wheels _without_ airbags retail from $1155 to $1225 from dealerships who don't markup their prices.

The bottom one is friggin sweet, the retrofuturistic look of the R8 V10 has more appeal to me, very in tune with the B8 pre-facelift look, especially the chrome trim compliment well the brushed aluminum and silver alcantara in the my basic car.
