I just got back from a 2500 mile road trip from Oregon, through Idaho and Utah, to Colorado. The S4 handled all of the interstates, state highways, and scenic byways with aplomb, although lack of ground clearance kept me from getting to some of the Wilderness trailheads. The highest elevation of the trip was at 8755ft. over McClure Pass, which has an 8% grade and this car rocketed right up it. Driving at night was also a pleasure as the adaptive headlights lit up the canyons like daytime. I loved being able to change the adaptive suspension to the varying road surfaces (CO you should take a lesson from UT). We hit a VERY heavy rainstorm coming back through Salt Lake City and the quattro system kept me glued even at 85mph.

Thanks for looking.

Ah, Delicate Arch. Utah just might be my favorite state for sheer beauty. Oh yeah, and the Moab area pretty much has it all

Damn, that sounds like an awesome trip...what a great way to really get to know your car. And how is your car so clean from so much driving? Did you quick detail every time you stopped? Haha

Nice pics and trip! I did some backpacking just east of Phoenix in the superstition mountains, and there is no way in hell I would ever take my S4 on those roads. The rental car must have bottomed out 5 times while driving to the trail head. If I lived out there, there would definitely be some kind of SUV in the stable.

I was out traveling in SLC for business thursday and friday of last week. I want to move out there ASAP haha. Heres a panorama i snapped from my phone overlooking the valley.
The smoke on the right is from the brushfires, it made for epic pictures with how it turned the salt lake and the sun deep red

Looks awesome. If I could somehow keep my current job and transfer to the pacific northwest or even Utah/Colorado region, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I moved here from CT a little over a year ago. It's definitely a visual overload compared to CT :). The fall is kinda blah, but other than that, amazing. Not to mention housing prices are RIDICULOUSLY cheap.

One of the fastest growing economies in the country. Forbes rated Utah as the their top "Best Place" for business and careers. Epic scenery and outdoor activities (action sports). Living here is not something I complain about :-)

honestly i was amazed at the entreprenureal spirit that utah has. it seems like there is a lot of 25-40 year old young professionals that are very successful. the city is very clean also.

now to get my company to pay relocation costs :)

Oh man, it was killing me seeing it covered in bugs and pine sap. Crossing the agricultural parts of Idaho it sounded as if it were lightly raining, but it was actually the sound of insects hitting the windshield -- so nasty. I did go through a touchless car wash in Moab, and made sure to scrub the windshield clean at each gas stop, but I was dying inside.

Speaking of gas, the car's trip computer showed that I was averaging around 30mpg. Not too shabby.

I was just out in Park City for a week for Porsche Training. It's certainly gorgeous. But as a driving enthusiast I couldn't live there. The roads are excellent, and the mountain driving is amazing, but the cyclist have no desire to live, I feel. So many of them blowing by me going down the mountains, a lot of them riding in the middle of the road preventing me from getting around them at all. Gorgeous yes, but I'd end up running someone over if I lived there.

In Utah, you can buy 15,000 squarefoot houses for around 5,000,000. Where I live in CT, it costs at least 20,000,000. And the scenery and outdoors life seems amazing out in Utah.

Ain't it the truth. I've found that I drink more now! And I'm addicted to coffee.
