I have a 2004 Audi s4 with a 4.2 liter v8. The last 3 months have been very problematic. first my driver side cam adjuster solenoid went out. Followed by the fuel pump two weeks later. and just the other week I have no. oil getting to the driver side intake cam, as a result my lifters are collapsed. I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts or input what could cause a lack of oil circulation. I tried doing a engine flush with diesel fuel ,seafoam And transmission fluid with no results. the only thing I could think of is it has something to do with the control housing or the solenoid. I will upload a YouTube video showing that my lifters are collapsed shortly. any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, mike

All lifters on the drivers side intake side are collapsed. Engine runs fine besides the audible ticking. All the power, no sputtering. Where does the rocker are get its oil supply from? Does anyone have a picture of the head disassembled with the oil galleys. Has anyone had a problem like this? I've put more than 5,000 miles on it since it started. I have no choice but to drive it. But I'd like to fix it.

I finally figured out where the blockage was. I knew that it was in the head area somewhere but I had no idea where to start. Turns out the intake cam and the rocket arm is supplied oil from the exhaust side and crosses over in the front of the head at the last camshaft cap. That is where the chunk of silicone lodged itself.
Also, since I started this thread i've had to replace the passenger side rear hub, the part that the wheel mounts to because the bolt came loose, the oil pressure sender. That almost cost me the whole motor. The crankshaft position sensor, the starter and the drivers side engine mount. Boy has this car been trouble sum.
