any of these around denver? my car is coming up on 150k miles and there is a certain something I need to be doing when it rolls over that requires a long straight desolate road, so Id like to plan a good location for that.

If you hit 88mph, you'll be transported back in time.

^^ When I worked up in the Tech Center, that stretch of road was one of the fastest portions of my commute. The other being the stretch just after you summit Monument Hill (and then all the way to just before the old rest area).

Yup I was cruising at like 110 thru all of Utah on the way back from Wuste.

I'm also liking the way i76 looks way up north. The hard part is just having the exact mileage while also being in the exact location.

You can follow Quincy way out east, it gets pretty abandoned right past Aurora.

If you're feeling like a really long drive, Go south on I25 to Castle Rock, get off at Founders Parkway and go east. Follow Founders to CO 86 - turn left here. Drive straight and keep driving and keep driving and keep driving and you'll end up in Limon. There are no cops after Kiowa all the way until Limon. Swing back on I70 to Denver.

Could also go to Parker and take Parker Road all the way down to CO Springs, that's a pretty drive.

I just got home from doing this drive. It's really pretty out there, makes me not want to take I25 down to the springs ever again.

This, used to live on this road 11 miles east of Kiowa. Very little police activity, just take a radar detector to be safe. Hit the speed limiter on my old A4 on this road.

Not as close, but Happy Jack Rd, right next to Cheyenne is flat, desolate and you can see for miles!!!

I love the straight slightly downhill stretch entering the san luis valley . . . to bad the police seems to thrive and multiply in that region [:D]

another desolate favorite of mine is the la sal junction from the moab area past paradox [drive]

Isn't there that stretch of road in or near Pine Junction?

Anyone know of that one?

When I bought my Audi a salesmen told me he got his S4 to about "160" up there

Probably on the other side of Kenosha pass between Jefferson and Fairplay.

IDK that I'd try 150 east of Aurora. Quincy is pretty skinny at speed and has lots of crown + rolling hills.

It's not very hard to head East and find a road..... I got my jeep up towards the 135 mark in Fort Collins

hmmmm, we need a gumball rally up i70, over loveland pass, and ending at a bar of our choice in summit... or take a break in summit and haul ass off i70 to leadville on 93, then head back via fairplay/evergeen....

every single time i've driven I76 on the way into CO/ out of CO (lets say, go 50 miles on I76) there is literally nothing and no one there or driving for, like 150 miles. pretty straight and flat.

I've been talking about a colorado run for awhile . . . . it's a bit longer than what your describing though [:D] 1200 miles, all inside the square

although it does start and end in Denver since that's the only way anyone would actually go lol

400?? I'll do that in a day out of sheer boredom. . . this is meant to be something of a bigger scale. I wont show you guys my intended route yet but I will tell you I have driven a lot of what co has to offer and this will combine the best of it all into one weekend.

it's a slippery slope trying to create something like this. . . people have been prosecuted for organizing such things. . . just sayin, it has to be packaged and executed just right for it to work.

tell ya what though, come to Colorado treffen next month and i'll show you the exact route we picked out awhile back [:d] I just don't wanna post it yet [;)]

tha's what i'm saying... a bunch of people on here would do it in a day out of sheer boredom lol which would make it way more fun... aka with a crew of like 4+

i have tried to organize short cruises before. . . people talk a big game then bail last minute. lol but as i posted above, colorado treffen is only a couple weeks away. one of the best cruises around and only a handfull of people show up anymore. one day, short & sweet, and its on a sunday. . . . no excuse is worthy. c'mon people [:d]

I try to make every cruise I can. But, you working with Baker as I do know that sometimes we just can get days off or the days don't fall on event days.

I hear ya. I'm lucky to be working a position in town with a set schedule now but I know how it is doing the out of town thing. . . i'll probly be working lots of saturdays in the near future , which would make an event like treffen that much harder.

Ya it sucks. I wish I had a set schedule. I was gonna do 10weeks straight up in pine dale on shell but sounds like we are not doing that anymore
