Hi. I'd like to get the dealer to change my tranny fluid and filter, but they say it's not needed.

2010 S4 with 49,000 miles.

I hate how dealerships try to scheme us into not taking good car of our cars, then like to charge ridiculous prices for repairs that could have been avoided. If you really want it done and are willing to pay for it, then just tell them and don't take no for an answer. They should have no problem doing that for you. If you feel its necessary and want the piece of mind then go back and tell those morons that your the customer with the money and you want it done.

Thanks. Right I am willing to pay for it. I told this to the service advisor but he still resisted. I'll push harder, but they only seem to respond to Audi/TSB documentation. That was the only way I could get them to update the tranny software. I'll try again.

They are full of it, Audi sent a supplemental to all owners and dealers, oil only, no filter changes, and it's due at 35,000 miles.

FFS it's on Audi's own website: http://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/audiusa/Documents/Audi-Maintenance-Schedule-Model-Year-2010.pdf

DSG service specifically states the oil is to be changed on S4/S5 cars.

from maintenance guide (2013... I see that the 2010 one says not to change filter but later years do.)

DSG/S Tronic– change ATF oil and replace transmission filter element
for clutch hydraulics: 35/75/115 miles or 55/115/175 km

Was it done at 35K miles? Is the car still under a warranty? If No and Yes respectively, maybe he's trying to avoid having you go into the computer as failing to perform required maintenance at 35k... (just an off-chance...)

Actually it's just the oils (there are 2 types, one is basically ATF, the other is a special hypoid oil), the A3/TT gets filters changed.

A lot of us with 2010 & 2011 S4s received the Fedex package with a single sheet to put in the warranty/maintennance manual.

Note that the current "2010 Scheduled Maintenance Intervals" on the Audi web page has a revision date of Dec 2010 (Revised 12/10).
