My wife's car recently started bucking at low RPMs, and so we're having to drive at higher than normal RPM. It has 185k miles. We took it to the shop and they recommended replacing the clutch (it has only 50k miles on it) for $897 and cat for $1072. From what I'm reading, it seems like these codes indicate it's running too rich. I highly doubt it's the clutch and/or cat. Have you guys had any experience with these codes, or have suggestions on what else to check?

The codes they gave me were 17545 (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17545/P1137/004407) and 17535 (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/379513-Error-Code-17535-with-boost-surges). Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I'd start by logging the MAF. If the car is turbocharged, a rich condition at idle can also be caused by leaks in certain parts of the intake track.

Did you take the car to Midas? [eek]

I had both 17545/17544 once, and it turned out to be a cracked brake booster line causing vacuum leak which was contributing to these engine codes. This is most likely a boost leak. So check your vacuum lines, intake hose connections, and check valves too.

But I would suggest cleaning/logging MAF first as Walky said since he's more knowledgeable in these cars.
