Plus, the estimated miles left on tank doesn't have any effect on the trip odometer. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Estimated mileage changes with adaptation values. There's no tom-foolery going on here. I did the vag-com mod for consumption and this is where it's gotten me..

Conveniently left out your gas level gauge huh?

steveo72
08-09-2013, 01:38 PM
It indeed does adapt but not by that much. Best case of 35mpg city...9 gallons used. 7 gal left and 400 mile range...calculating 58mpg? Again I say, Bwahaha

I declare shenanigans.

Not impossible for it to estimate 405 if you were to do a ton of coasting/downhill stuff on the previous tank.

OK, finally, I see no magic here. Now you're showing a full tank and 4.5 or whatever Mr. Blurrycam is saying miles driven on that current full tank. An estimate of 400 miles a tank is not unheard of... you won't get that however. Your previous pic in the OP was your car all filled up and your trip meter not reset to 0, nothing special. Get outa here!

Mine always shows over 400 mi for the next tank. You guys are just right foot heavy! [drive]

Are you sure you are not looking at kilometers? The most miles I ever got a tank of gas was 290.

I just filled up. A tick over 10 gal and had 264 miles on the od. Mpg showed 26.8 and after fill up it shows 450 miles until fill up. This is about standard for every fillup.

Do you drive like a grandma or something? There is no way I can bust that. Last fill-up was 17.9MPG but I was dogging the car a bit too on that tank. On the highway, not a problem, break 300 miles per tank easy even with some city in there and I usually drive 80 with cruise on. In the city, I think I might have gotten 19 or 20 at one point, but no way 26.

interesting. my miles left before fill up never started out above 350. guess the high percentage of city driving i do has had an effect on the car's mpg estimations...

You must have been towed by a hybrid......

I've hit over 300 a couple times, but most of the drive was highway unfortunately.

Nothing new here. Anyone can get estimated range of 400+ miles after fill up. As mentioned earlier, it all depends on your driving pattern BEFORE fillup.

If you we're driving at a pretty steady speed with minimal stops, that is do-able. If going 45-50 and trying to maximize MPGs it should be pretty easy. I've gotten 339 out of a tank on the highway (vast majority of my driving) but I typically drive faster than optimal speed for MPGs.

This is just an estimate on a full tank. Mine always says somewhere around 400. I actually get much much less...

I think I average 16-18 mpg? But I live in OC, 100% city driving, and i've got a heavy foot.

same here when i had stasis mine would say up to 440 then went apr stage 2 now its between 405- 410, unless i drive alot in S mode which still gets like 365

Mine is 60 mile daily trip is 2/3 freeway and 1/3 city streets. I use my ac on both legs of the trip every day to work, its hot here in phoenix.
I get 25 mpg or higher every fillup. Now i have seen lower on o couple of tanks where i drove it like i stole it.

I see about 380 every time at fill-up and that is with mixed driving. If I did a few tanks of highway I think I'd see the number by the op.

IceAero
08-30-2013, 07:42 AM
I have seen 425 miles left, once, after a pure highway stretch where, after filling up, I was getting just a hair under 28mpg.

6MT also.

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/iceaero/s4 (Look at fill-ups 57 and 56)

Shockingly, it appears that at 75mph with the AC off, the 6MT can average 28 mpg on flat highways.

One time being really conservative I was averagging 30mpg on the freeway for that stretch, not the whole tank.
