Crack, snapple, pop and pulled the door card to find the window, still attached to the metal attachment, could freely slide up and down the vertical rail. I found a torn up plastic green clip, which I'm assuming is one of these, for $9:

The entire motor assembly and track system seems to be working perfect otherwise, however not taking the window and window attachment with it. I'm amusing this is the clip that secures the two. So, any one screw around with these clips, or forgot that!!! Those things are worthless once they break and just get the entire system brand new like this for $48:

If I should get the clips, do I have to pop the rivets and remove the entire assembly to install the clips or can they be done in the door?

What tis thee say, quote the raven.

if your going to replace it, do it with the good stuff (OEM). I just have a bad experience with the ebay window regulator. It only lasted two weeks. [headbang]

Some people just replace the clips, as that's all that is really wrong wih it.

I think Mad Cow or Madhatter, or someone along those lines changed just their clips and did some sort of a write-up in the "What did you do to your B5 today?"

Youy need a rivet gun, for a heads up.

^ Those arnt the clips

These are the clips

I did a real quick write up in the "what did you do" thread, but its pretty straight forward, no need to remove the rivets or anything like that for just the clips.

I used these A6 (4B0 898 099) clips:

Believe these may have been superceded by 4B0 837 463 B, which has a metal core.

I did a writeup, but still trying to update the broken image links. Here's another writeup:

Alright, I'll check it out. Hopefully the sh*t fitment clip is not the front one closest to the mirror...that's the one that shattered.

The shitty fitment clips I'm talking about are a set I bought from a buyer on ebay, the fitment was wayy to tight and just garbage, not that it was in a bad spot or anything the replacement was just crappy.

I am going through the same thing right now. My window is stuck halfway down and just need to wait for some garage place to fix the regulator. I got an OEM one for about $25 plus shipping through ebay a few weeks ago
