I found this thread not much in it, anyone use Zimmerman Rotors as a direct replacement and what about any experience with Akebono pads?

No knowledge of "Zimmerman" rotors, but I run Akebono pads and LOVE them. Great bite and stopping power with very little dust.

There are a lot of positive posts on Audizine about the Akebono pads. Do a search on "Akebono (http://www.audizine.com/forum/search.php?searchid=3499078)".
I have used the Zimmerman Rotors on my old MB C32 AMG & they worked well plus were not too expensive.

there are a host of threads on those pads - general consensus is they are a good alternative to the stock rotors. less "bite" than the oem rotors, but significantly less dust and noise. believe they also come with the sensor if the one on your car needs to be replaced. similarly good reviews of the zimmermans as a good alternative to the stock rotors.

They should hire George Zimmerman as their spokesman.

Got the Akebono pads installed a few weeks ago, like he said, they don't have that same bite as oem but still good. Take a little bit to get used to, but now since I only replaced my fronts, my rear wheels are dirtier than the front [evilmad]

Yeah I was gonna say, do these rotors have some special feature where they scream for mercy while you're really beating on them?

Just as a cautionary tale, i used to Akebono pads coupled with Brembo rotors on my previous car, and the pads absolutely ate the rotors - i'm talking less than 10,000 km (and not spirited whatsoever - 325i..) and the rotors were well near minimum spec. I was shocked - Brembo rotors are quite durable, but these pads have so much metal in them (hence the low brake dust) that they just seem to eat away at anything.
Zimmerman rotors on the other hand are great. We've had them on the Cayenne (which weighs an absurd amount), coupled with pagid pads and the stopping performance is phenomenal.
If you want more bang for you buck though, i'd certainly look in the direction of Hawk HPS pads. Super good quality, low brake dust, low metal and very little fade. I've run them on my track car several times (Along with HP+) and have ZERO complaints.
Best of luck!

I'd like to know what track car you have that Hawk HPS can work with zero complaints? HP+ is good, and ok for track use in a lighter weight car but HPS just can't handle the beating from track use.
I've been using Zimmermann rotors in both my cars now, and they work great. I had to replace the rotors every time I replaced the pads, but that was because I was using Carbotech XP12 & XP10 (the racing compounds). Now that I'm on street compound (Carbotech 1521), I hope the rotors can last longer.

Hahaha I heard the rotors are made in Paraguay and the pads in America!
