iPhone 5 dension gw17ac1 problem

So I recently purchased the dension kit and the website says the I phone 5 will work with the kit if you have the 30 pin adapter. I bought the 30 pin adapter and installed the kit. I plugged my phone in with the 30 pin adapter and it charges but the music plays out of the phone and not over the stereo.anyone know what I could do to fix the problem?

You must have the apple converter not a knockoff. Does it woork fine with a regular ipod?

Regular iPod works but sometimes I get a message "this accessory is not supported." I have to unplug and plug it in a few times to get it to read text and have steering wheel controls.
