so I'm on my way back to Texas from Louisiana. the whole way there I kept the ac on auto as I always have. had it on auto when I left also. bout 45 minutes to an hour into the drive,it just kinda starts to die and is barely blowing air. I turn the fan all the way up and I can hear it running but there's barely any air. the only way I'm getting any decent air from the vents is if I push the recirculation button and even with that i ts not as much as it should be. about to pull over at a gas station. any suggestions on what it could be or what to check?

The blower motor sound like its dead/dying. Check your fuses, it could have overloaded one due to drawing too much current, especially if the motor is worn.

checked fuses when I stopped to fill gas. visually they seem in tact and not blown. I filled up gas and turned the car on to head out and it started working like nothing happened. It's been 15+ miles and its still kicking strong. I'm glad it's working but kinda concerned/ curious as to what happened

Literally just happened to me a few weeks back. Check the fuse to see if its blown. If the fuse is ok your blower motor is most likely shot or coming to an end. Mine actually shorted out down to the harness connector and burnt it. Replaced the blower motor and the connector... everything is icy cold and forces air fair better than ever before.

Got the blower motor from Europa (http://www.europaparts.com/blower-motor-8e1820021e-oe.html) and the connector from the dealer for like $6. Super easy DIY. First I would take out the blower motor and test it on another current to see if its actually the motor. Good luck!

it seems to be working fine now. I guess I'll wait for it to go out before spending the money since I got my ass handed to me in Shreveport lol. did you go with the oem or genuine Audi one? also do you know if there's a diy available? I searched and didn't find one

See thats what my thought was but it actually ended up biting me in the arse. I had the same issue I think your talking about. A/C working fine but intermittently weakening and even stopped working all together for a bit. This is what caused the harness to be burnt up. Its an easy DIY, just drop the glovebox and it exposes the blower motor. You can at least check the wiring to make sure nothing it frying up.

I found a video on YouTube. Tutorial Here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7FUYHM05bs)

I got the OEM blower. They are both made by the same manufacturer just branded differently (Your paying for the name). I linked it in the "Europa" in my previous post.

What fuse is for the AC system? I am not getting any cold air. Blower seems fine but I am on vacation in the mountains with no tools to speak of really.
