Getting Close to ordering my S6. I have been debating about getting it in the Exclusive Color Daytona Gray. There are things I like about and don't like about it. So I have been trying to take as many pictures as I can of the color to get a sense of how it looks under various light conditions, since it does take on different features under different light conditions. I am in Europe for the next couple of weeks for work and pleasure. As always I keep my eyes peeled. Well it seems that while this is a rare color in the US, it is quite abundant in the Netherlands. I took a shot of this A1, thought you guys might like it, because at the same time I captured an A4 Avant, with the SLine trim. I like the silver lower trim sections Anyway, thought you might enjoy. Across the street is an Audi dealership and they have an A5 cabrio in Daytona Gray, so I will snap that car as well tomorrow, when I go in.

I wouldn't do Daytona. Audi is putting this color on everything including the up coming A/S3 Sedan. If you want to do Grey, do something more unique. Nardo. Aviator. Sport Classic Grey. Nimbus. Dolphin.
Even those I don't think are worth a 3900 premium over Quartz. That said, do what you like - but I would do a lot of other greys before Daytona.

Who cares if it's becoming a common color so long as it's not a standard color on the S6 and you like it. It had amazing depth for a grey and much better than the standard shades available.

I am just stating my opinion that I would care. If it does to him or not is his choice. To me, Exclusive should mean as such, Exclusive....I am not just interested in not seeing another identical model that color, I don't want to see another car that color period. That's just my personality, like wise, I wouldn't spend 3900 on a different shade of Black, Grey, White etc unless its really different like Aviator. My two euro.

I really don't understand this line of thinking "don't go with daytona... audi is putting this color on everything". Who cares if Audi is putting it on everything?! It's still nice.
Just because it has become more common doesn't mean it no longer looks good. Daytona is a great shade of grey, so who cares if it's no longer unique across Audi models? If you wanted unique, you shouldn't be shopping for a recent model Audi to begin with, as many people can hardly tell between an A4, A6, and A8 from a distance.
To the OP: if you like it, go for it. A daytona gray S6 will be unique enough for an Audi, since you'd have to go special order to get it. I certainly haven't seen any daytona gray C7 S6 in the wild yet, despite the fact that the climate makes Audis very plentiful and popular here in Chicago. I see a ton of C7 S6, but almost always white or black.

The problem with Daytona Gray is that it adds significant expense and several months for production. Seems ridiculous since Daytona Gray is now an optional color on the 2014 A6 prestige.

First, the option is $2500. Is it the most exclusive? No, if I wanted that I would get some kind of lime green or pink car and pay $6500. I am only aware of two C7 S6's that are in the US, so fairly rare. I am not looking for full exclusiveness in the color. I am just not to happy with the current choices. I am looking for a color that really shows the lines and plays off of light. I love the pearl metallic grays because as it changes angles it takes on a different shade, sparkle, color. That means that the creases and bends that were put in by the designer is further accentuated, which you don't see ona lot of colors. It is why Daytona is shown ona lot of their concept cars and models.

Audi Exclusive is 3900 now is it not?
Based in everything else you said, Nardo Grey or Apollo Silver.

An Audi dealer in Chicago had an S6 in Daytona Gray with Lunar Silver interior in their showroom a few weeks ago when I was in for service. It was a really stunning color combination.

Funny how people's opinions are so different - I completely disagree with TheChef. I absolutely love Daytona Gray - it's such a perfect dark, wet-looking, gray color (a pure gray color!!) I cannot stand the other grays that when the sun shines on them you see green, blue, and other weird colors. Daytona Gray is pure gray! Now the real question is, will the Daytona Gray be offered in the US in the Matte finish? That just makes you shake your head and need to change your chonies!

One thing I am thinking is just wrapping the car in XPEL Stealth over Daytona Gray to give the matte look. You get the look, and the maintenance is way easier than a true matte paint.
I stopped by the Audi Dealership here in Amsterdam, and they had a Daytona Gray A5, with the full black grill. The darker grill looks great on this color.

Good choice. Xpel is doing a full Stealth wrap on my car in the next few weeks. Just waiting on the film to ship to Clearly Innovative here in Houston. In addition to having a similar "look" you actually have full protection of the car and the Xpel can be washed, waxed, etc you name it. You get all the benefit of matte paint, with none of the maintenance headache and full protection.

You have to take pictures of your xpel stealth wrap on.

My Project Supercar7 series will debut tomorrow on Fourtitude and a few other Audi sites. It will basically be the introduction and go between on my Glut Orange S5 project and this new one. Each step alone the way, Paint Prep/Tint/Wrap, Suspension, Tune, Exhaust and downpipes, Wheels and tires will have its own independent write up and photo shoot.
I have also talked to Anthony of AZ to do some video on it later on also.
Right now, the first article after the intro should be around Xpel and Clearly innovative as well at Paint Prep by Chreeno Detail (Chris Reno) and tint by Clearly Innovative.
On June 28th the car goes to Brink Motorsports for a Titanium and Carbon Fiber exhaust system and down pipes and APR tune...
Lots will be coming.

How many ft of xpel stealth did you get?

I was told one full box should do the trick as long as there was no cutting errors by the plotter - if that happened, might need another few feet for the last panel or something.

I paid up for Daytona Gray Pearl Effect on my S7 and still love the decision. I was worried that Nardo Gray would be more appealing until I saw the spy shots, which were nice, but not overly compelling for me. I can't pull into a gas station or parking lot without people talking to me about the car and color - it's amazing how the S7 strikes people when they see it in person. Here's the link to the cloudy-day pics I posted on AW.

The S7 looks awesome. I think that the S7 naturally looks better in the darker colors.
Plenty of Daytona RS5s out there. It's a fantastic color - especially with lunar interior.
But Sport Classic Grey... drool.
