I just had some major work done - engine replacement and timing belt module replacement.. Now i got my car back and realized the compass is not displaying the correct direction, it is stuck on N or E all the time.. then I realize if I turn the green light on/off, it doesn't make any difference anymore -- not sure it is on or off, all look the same.. can they forgot to reset it or some fuse has gone wrong.... Thanks.

First try to reset it. Your manual should tell ya how. I remember its in there. There was something about having to drive in a circle after doing the reset procedure for it. Then see if it still is giving issues.
The calibration process will help the compass but won't fix the dimming mirrors. Maybe a fuse, but then my thinking is that the whole thing would stop working. [confused]

Hi I did the calibration (after find the instructions are on the next page). The compass is now working. The dimming mirror, I am not sure. I read the instruction manual more carefully this time. It says it will not dim unless it senses very strong light. I have not run into that situation yet. I will have to drive out at night more...

Cool sounds like your problem is fixed. [drive]
Post up if you notice any issues with dimming mirror although that may hard to replicate unless you have a car parked behind you at night in your driveway with its lights on etc.
Easy to test... Mask the front light sensor... The system works by evaluating the difference between the light coming from the front and the one coming from the back. If you mask the front sensor during the day, it is supposed to dim. I never tried though, but it is my understanding of the way the system works...

Just put your finger over the light sensor on the back of the mirror. You should see the mirror turn dark. If you park your car in a garage you should be able to notice the dim mirror even with the garage door open (if that makes any sense). When I start my car in the morning (in the garage) with the garage door open, I can look up at the mirror and see that it is dim. When I pull out of the garage I can almost immediately tell the mirror has lightened up.

Hi, you guys are awesome!! I did find the sensor on the back of the mirror. during the day I tried to cover it. The compass display dimmed after a few seconds. but i didn't notice the mirror itself dimmed. Then I tried to use a LED flash light pointing at the mirror then cover the sensor. This time I was able to see the mirror actually looked dark and greenish. once I stopped covering the sensor, it gets bright again slowly. :)
Thank you guys!!!

At the end of the day when I get in my car the first thing I do is turn my key to "ON" to prime the pump, I notice that my mirrors dim because I still have the sun shade on my windshield.
To test put sun shade on front windshield, turn key to "ON" or run, ensure the green light on the RV mirror is on, and see if your mirrors dim, this test can be done during daytime.
