Greetings to B7 and B8 owners with halogen headlamps.
As many of you would agree, the best and the proper way to add HID light, is to go with OEM xenon projector headlamps.
This would be the best choice and we absolutely agree 100%!
However, the cost involved for this route, may be too much.
Therefore, we came up with an alternative option that would be better than using an ordinary aftermarket HID kit.
As you may already know, installing an aftermarket H7 kit on reflector housing, is the least ideal choice because it not only blinds others, it also gives incorrect lighting output, pattern, and scarttered lights.
This is because the bulb used on an aftermarket kit is bare D2S capsule without coated shield that is supposed to be on D2R that reflector headlamp must use.
We came up with a bundle kit including Blesk ballasts and Philips 4300K D2R H7 Rebased bulbs with coated shield (bulb capsule is 85126).
As you may know, Philips 4300K D2R is the OEM bulb used on reflector xenon headlamps from factory and Philips bulbs are known for quality.
Although the color may not be fancy blue, it is OEM white with the most lighting output (from 35W range) compared to other kelvin rated bulbs.
Installation would be a simple plug and play and with built-in error canceller on Blesk ballasts, you will not see error message on dash.
Here's a link to a thread posted by one of AZ members who installed this setup on his B8 A4.
