I know a couple of guys have been adding oil a lot to these cars and wanted to share my solution. I have been adding a quart of oil every 700 to 800 miles since my light kept turning on and its been driving me crazy. I know these cars like to consume oil but this was just too ridiculous. I tried all types of oils and nothing has changed. I took it to the stealership since I'm still under warranty and they did a consumption test on my oil level (Had me drive it about two weeks after changing it and adding their own oil) and decided to go ahead and change my piston rings under the warranty. So far I am at 1,300 miles since and the light has not come on. They also changed my timing belt and water pump while they were in their and was charged for only half an hour labor. Very happy about that. Basically only had to pay for parts.

Been there and done that. I had an extended warranty and I had a new long block. I see that some of our 2.0 engines had this problem and some didn't They found a long block from a wrecking yard and it's much better than the one I had before. I think Audi should have done a recall instead of going through all of the issues with taking the car in.

Mine is still CPO for a couple more months. I am in my first cycle since they changed the rings and valves. So far NO noticeable oil consumption. So... it is possible with these engines to have no oil loss. I am so happy I got this done. I have sure used up my CPO warranty. I have come out ahead vs. buying it private sale price.
