I am looking to update my factory double din in my 2000 b5 s4 to a newer model double din unit. I was wondering if the b6 navigation will fit or come close to fitting? I dont mind shaving off the end a bit to make it fit if that is the case.

It'll fit but you'd have to cut it down to a std double din size and then use a fascia kit. The B6 is different shape than the B5 faceplate.
The closest oem nav to fit in the B5 is one from a C5 A6/Allroad/S6/RS6 - Rns-e or RNS-d only. Whilst not perfect, most people would not think it wasn't an oem fit.

Thanks for the info! I might just go for the B6 A6 RNS-e since it seems cheaper than the c5 version on ebay.

What reason would that be? Sorry but I am still new to the audi world so I don't know much about it.

If you want "correct" fitment, you need a C5(4B chasis) faceplate from an A6/S6/RS6 or Allroad, like mentioned. The B6/B7(8E chasis) faceplate found in the A4/S4 is the wrong size all around. Don't buy it because it's cheaper. You'll spend more money trying to make it look correct, than it's worth.

I modified a trim kit granted it took some time and bondo and paint afterwards but it helped to overcome this fitment issue in my b5

Do you have any pictures of your final headunit after the bondo?
