2001 2.7T build date 11/2000, just purchased, only had one key with it.

Just want to confirm that I absolutely have to go to the dealer to get the immobilizer coded for a new key. I searched the forum and seems like I have immobilizer 2 with 4 digit code.

Purchased a key from autotransponder.com, they made the blade from a picture, works perfect. I was able to program the remote functions but of course immobilizer won't let it keep car running.

How can the immobilizer be disabled, any write up?

Thanks

You have to go to the dealer or send the cluster to a tuner/cluster shop and have the code pulled from the hardware. The dealer cannot give you the 4 digit code.

There are a few other ways. Your car is Immo III actually (meaning the Immo knows the VIN# of your car and ODO is locked after 50 miles).
The most reliable method involves Vag commander and VCDS. If you're not familiar with at least VCDS then just go to the dealer...

If you have a ebay KKL cable I can provide the software to retrieve the code. Shoot me a PM.
