Great...just when I thought it was safe......P1340 and 300xx misfires on all cylinders.

Check codes to discover 4 bad o2 sensors and timing belt is 3" slack when engine is cold. Haven't started the car since taking the top covers off but before the car started right up and had a blinking cell. After revving the engine, Cell went away for the day. I have a feeling that I should pull the heads.....any opinions? I have no idea what the piston to valve clearance is on these engines are so.......I'm stuck.

I have the belt and waterpump kit.....just waiting on the lock bar and pin to do the timing.

Car is a 200 4.2 a6

If only I could pick up one of those s6 engine in the classifieds ads.[=(]

Ok...changed the t-belt and water pump and 2 g40 sensors Saturday morning.
car runs better but still have code p1340.........guess i'm looking at the timing chains as well.
t belt was done using both locking tools so it's accurate.
symptoms........after a free rev the car idles down with a rattle somewhere in the engine compartment.
Has been like this for 2 years. Rattle at start up and after revving. gone during normal idle and 3k which is highway rpms.
Cars runs great but I know it will run better with the problem fixed.
I figure the car is safe but I will be either replacing the heads or tearing them down....
Also, I laid my eye's on a nice RS6 in Bethel, Ct on Sunday.
Very clean car. Keeps me motivated ......
