View Full Version : Installing an aftermarket HU with no preamps on a Symphony system? Is it possible?

Long story short I purchased a Kenwood DPX300U from Sonic Electronix (worst experience ever) to install in my 2003 A4 with the Bose stereo. They initially recommended and sent the wrong wiring harness (Concert series). After waiting two weeks, they sent the right one. Then I realized the stereo was shorted and would not power on. Sent it back, waited an additional two weeks and just got a refund. I went to my local shop and bought the Alpine CDE-W235BT to install. Got home last night and realized it does not have enough preamp outputs to install using the adapter harness with the 4 rca plugs.

Does anyone know what I can use to make this work, assuming I want to keep my amp and speakers working properly? I like the radio and really don't want the hassle of sending it back. I still have both harnesses (concert and symphony) so it looks like I could move the amp wire from the symphony harness over to the concert harness and use it for the speakers if I knew where to place it. Any suggestions?

You can use a simple RCA splitter but its probably going to sound really low. Or you can use one of these.
