Messy sittuation... 2 payments left on a 2004 A6 with 103,xxx miles. Lots, many, tons of stuff done to it. Parts, aprox $8k, including service parts, like T.B, or upgrades, like RS4 turbos.
Driver license suspended for 3 years, starting yesterday. No driving privileges at all.[facepalm]
To keep it or not?

3 YEARS!? How many DUI's?
If you have the storage.. keep it... maybe?
3 years is a long ass time bruh, I'd sell it. But that's only because I know I wouldn't be able to resist getting behind the wheel... 3 YEARS!? Shiiiiiiit, my 45 day suspension in the State of New Jersey felt like a lifetime.

I say keep, but you'll have to start it up periodically and have someone drive it around to prevent stuff from dry rotting and siting too long.
What'd you do?????
It's just going to rot away and depreciate even more. Sell it, put the money in the bank and buy one just like it for 1/2 the price in 3 years!

You might be right here however if he has 8k worth of mods and services into it, he will end up spending more money if he buys one at lower cost 3 years down the road and try to get it built to the level of this one. Sure it might just sit around but he can let some on drive it around every once in a while.
From what it seems you got a well kept Audi and its unfortunate you can't drive it but look at the bright side thats about 30k miles you won't put on it [:)] unless you're really pressed for money
You can probably get one with similar mods in 3 years for 1/2 the price. 3 years is a huge amount of time for depreciation......and to desire a totally different car when you get to drive again.
It might be different if you owned a true classic or rare car, but its simply not. It's just an A6 no matter the mods.

Considering what you did was serious enough to have you taken off the road for 3 years, it's probably best if you sell it.

30k miles in 3 years? i put 60k miles on in 3 years. if not more.
driving 10k a year is like not driving at all.
option 1 : take all the mods off, keep them in storage and sell the car stock, then later if you decide to go C5 again, put the mods back on. if not , sell em.
option 2: sell it as is and stack up some cash, in 3 years you can buy an even newer audi C6+ ect. and you will be even happier. in 3 yrs the c5 will be a classic lol.

hehe if you're driving 20k miles a year you're driving too much, i was talking about average drivers, so if he drives like you and saves 60k in 3 years great but i do agree with your second option. I have a c5 and a c6 but much enjoy driving my C5 a whole lot more but then again that's just me

Fleeing police, they got on my tail and got the plate #. A prior DUI back in 06. Not proud...!
It seems like I'll be posting it in classifieds. It sucks that I've put everything on it, rs4 turbos, stage 3 clutch, new FW and many other things. NEVER chipped! ... I know, I've missed out on a lot by not having it chipped.
Not pressed for the $, but right now I've got the cost of the car $13k, plus parts and service at least $10k. That's well over $20k. I've lost a lot of that over time, and I'd hate to loose pretty much all of it over the next 3 years.
Taking the parts off of it, it totally out the question! I refuse to put ranches on it, anymore. It would feel like having sex with a ex that's pregnant with someone else's baby.

I think I gotta say sell it. By the time you can drive it again, it will have depreciated significantly more. Its not like the car has crazy low miles that would make it worth while to keep garaged for a long period. If you really love the car, try to sell it to a friend with an agreement for the possibility to buy it back for a certain amount in 3 years time.
In the mean time, I suggest you invest the money you make from selling it in a bicycle and a bus pass lol, then invest the rest, you can buy something nice in 3 years.

I feel your pain!:(
I only drove it for a single day after going stage 3. Got pulled over, wasn't speeding or anything.
However, my plates came back to my DL being suspended so the officer pulled me over.
Excuse the pic, she's dirty, & had just got an alignment, so I didn't put the center caps back on. I was to excited to drive it.
I guess, I should have gone to class that day instead.
Bastards stalled the car 3 times trying to get it up, until they finally let me do it. Thankfully the car wasn't any lower either.

I will try to post a list of everything done to the car so far, with specs and other info. Maybe I'll get an idea about asking price for it. Thanks for the input. I decided to sell it as soon as I knew about the sentence, but wanted your opinion as well. Thank you.
Good decision. Buy a nice bicycle with the money, and you may not even want to go back to an Audi in three years.

What's a fair price for the car?
2004 Audi A6 - 2.7T, 6 MT / 103,321 miles
http://s18.postimg.org/k2p9bz049/image.jpg
----------------------------------------------------
Between 85,000 miles and 95,000 miles:
-Oil cooler installed
-STERN Engine Motor Mounts
-OEM RS4 K04 2.7T Turbochargers
-VAST Aluminum Inlets
-2.7T Turbocharger install kit, includes all gaskets for coolant, oil, exhaust manis, downpipe-turbo, bolts to exhaust manis, studs to turbos, air line crush gaskets
-VAST Stage 3 clutch kit
-2.7T Resurfaced flywheel kit
-C5 A6 6-speed Piggie pipes service
-AWE Drivetrain Stabilizer bar kit, C5 A6/Allroad. Includes upgraded poly mount
-Updated GREEN coolant temp sender/O-ring/clip
-VAST 5 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator.
-Pair of Bosch 710N diverter valves. GENUINE BOSCH.
-N75 Solenoid
-Bosch sidefire sparkplug
-Timing belt tensioner damper, Timing belt tensioner roller, Timing belt idler, Timing belt lever, Timing belt, Accessory belt, Upgraded metal blade water pump/gasket, Thermostat/O-ring
-ECU Stage 3 - tune, use with 5 bar FPR and Stock Injectors - THIS WAS NEVER PUT IN, SINCE BY THE TIME I'VE MANAGED TO PUT EVERYTHING ON THE CAR, VAST SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT HONOR THE ORDER.
-2006 Audi OEM A6 rims + tires. 18"
-Valve Cover Gasket - Victor Reinz - ECS Tuning
-Front brakes: vented Rotors + pads by HAWK
-Tinted windows. 25% in front (I think) / 30% in the back (I think).
-----------------
I thinks that's all. I might be forgeting some stuff, but oh well.
Also, clean carfax. 3 owners. I've had it for 3 years this comming May.
The bad stuff:
- when the car was towed away, when the driver put the car back on the ground, the front bumper got clipped by the bed of his truck. I don't think it's fixable. Might need a new one. It's all underneath, can't really tell unless you look for that.
- driver seat leather cracked for about 1.5".
- CEL is on due to SAI. I can vag that or even delete it.
- 3 out of the 4 tires match, the other one is the same brand, different pattern. Also, the spare is a 17" OEM that came with the car.

^Do the C6 18s require spacers to fit?
Romania
04-03-2013, 06:34 AM
Yes. 10 flush look in front, I'd say 15 mm in the back gives you a little poke, but I have 10mm all around.
I'd start at 11k. Theses cars aren't really worth much compared to similarly spec'd b5s4's.

I Wish I had the money... I'm only 45 minutes away from you.... 11 seems high for around here I was looking at high mile ones around tax time in case a miracle happened and I got a lot back.... There were two 2.7t 6spds around here with 130-160k. One was at a dealer and they were asking $6400 and another was a private seller I think it sold for around $4000. I'd say try 9k but be prepared to be beaten down...

9k? You've lost your mind. Stock s-line a6's go for more than that. At less than 10k I would let the car sit for 3 years.

I agree. I would not let it go for less than 10k. I'd reather see bird poop on it everyday than let someone steal this from me. Will all the mods done to it, and never abused.. I'd set it on fire for that price...No joke!

I agree 9k isn't happy news. My A4 is down below the 10k mark now too. We all know that little to no value is added by modifications however if the OP has an S-Line about $1000 is added to the value. I did not see this mentioned anywhere in the tread so I assumed it was not in my estimations. NADA says clean retail is $9400, KBB had very good condition private party at $9221 and Edmunds was less kind:
Customized True Market Value® Prices
Trade-In Private Party Dealer Retail

Since I'm in no hurry to sell it, I'll wait and see if I can get $11k out of it. To me that's almost fair, not really, but oh well..my loss. Also, I was talking to my dad and he said if I decide to keep it, he'll drive it 2-3 times a month. About 100-200 miles a month, it should be ok.

That sounds Awesome! I was not meaning to tell you to sell it for 9k, I re-read my first post and it is worded that way. I only meant suggest that with the economy as shitty as it is people might try to beat you down to 9k. I had a 67 Mustang that I put up for sale about 6 years ago. I had it posted online and in the newspaper a couple times. After over two years of me asking 6k then down to 5k I ended up having to take $2700 to put towards a car for the wife. Everyone in my family thought I was crazy for even offering at 6k. As you can see I've not had pleasant car-selling experiences in my past. That said, I tend to be more on the conservative-pessimistic side of things... I do hope you can find a buyer who is an enthusiast and who sees the value of all the work that went into your ride.

Resale value is tough on the modded industry.. i can tell yah for a fact, i got similar if not more money in mods into my car, now granted I have 212k miles I am asking KBB for the car as if it was stock, people get scared when they see the modifications and in some cases it subtracts from the value of the car. Sad, scary, but the truth

Sad, scary, but the truth
True. Unless a car is very over the top customized the mods often take away from the desirability. Not always, but it takes the right buyer to see the value and they are rare.
Some things also can't be added to the value. The BB value is based on a good running car with good tires, etc. So as an example, having "new tires" doesn't add 100% the cost of the new tires to the car. Rather a subtraction from BB value should be made for bad tires.
I would bet that between depreciation and repairs this car would lose less money by selling it for a discount today than holding onto it.
Car parts rot with time, especially when not being used! Corrosion of interior motor parts would be my biggest concern on an Audi like this. Engines are not a fully sealed unit. Air(and therefore moisture) has access to the inside of the motor through the intake and exhaust. The longer a car sits, the more oil drips off of internal parts exposing them to moisture. Corrosion takes over. Causing a sandpaper like surface on all the internal parts. Then when you start it up rings are dry against cyl walls, corroded valves rip through dry seals, turbo shafts spin in dry bearings, etc, etc
Seals that are not kept warm and oiled frequently dry up and shrink causing expensive to fix leaks.
Only way to really avoid all this is to drive the car often.
I'd rather sell it for $2k less now than have to put $5k into fixing it only to sell it for $4k less in 3 years.
