Just by holding the Symphony II+ unit and not knowing anything about the donor vehicle; is there a way to determine if its Bose or not? I don't have the harness adapter yet so I can't boot it up.

Depends what you mean by "is it a Bose H/U"? The same H/U is used in both Bose & non-Bose systems.

1. If you're asking, will it say Bose on its screen at startup? Well that's determined by the h/u's coding, which can be changed at any time with VCDS; or

2. Will it output "Bose equalisation"? Well, that'll depend on the car it is to be installed in. Is it a Bose or non-Bose equipped vehicle, it'll be wired appropriately. If you're upgrading from Symphony II with Bose to II+, Bose equalisation can be enabled by grounding the Bose pin in the quadlock to Iso harness.

Hope this helps.

Awesome, thank you for that clarification. The car is Bose and yes, i upgraded from II to II+. With the car being Bose will I still have to ground that Bose pin? Or will the factory harness take care of that for me? Sorry, I'm not quite following this portion.

Your old II uses ISO connectors. The II+ uses a quadlock connector. So you'll need a quadlock connector (at the h/u) and Iso harness (to intergrate into the car's std wiring). So you can do it either way.
Depending on what features you have in your audio system and those in the car the II+ came out of, you may need to recode the II+ to enable what you need.

Ok I understand now, thanks. I'm getting the adapters from www.euro-parts.us/ (http://euro-parts.us/)
