Planning to buy some new summer tyres next month, this time it will be 205/55 on R16 94Y, need more time to be able to purchase some bigger rims [:)]

With a budget of ~480 usd so far this seems to be a good choice, but would gladly listen to any advice or opinion. So what do you think?

Thanks for everyone in advance. [az]

Good brand, but if you are planning on buying summer tires soon then why not just get winter tires for your current wheels? I don't know what country you're in so I don't know if you need them or not.

205? ehhhhhh. I'd get the cheapest, most utilitarian setup you can find until you can get wheels that can accomodate wider tires.

Unfortunately gonna need more time to be able to buy new rims.

Thank you, my winter tyres will be ok for a couple of more weeks and from April will surely need the summer tyres, for many years we had a pretty warm spring (~70 F).
The country is in the "heart of Europe".

I'm literally sitting at a shop right now putting on some new summer wheels and tires, although I'm sticking to 17inch for more tire just because of the sheer amount of driving I do; may not be the sexiest setup but a nice balance between style, performance and overall cost.

Drifz multispoke black w/ Toyo 235/55/17Z. Should be nice.

Yeah would like to get some 17'' rims myself but probably only next year, imo you're definitely alright with your ''setup'' [up]

Tall profile and narrow, should give you a very comfortable quiet ride and probably good gas mileage as well. I'm not very familiar with the brand you are looking at but i would go into the Tire Rack website and do some comparison shopping, there are a lot of tires of that size available in the US available for under $120/tire that may be better performing.

Made a new deal with the boss at the shop today, for $420 I would surely buy the 4 new tyres, hopefully on the next weekend.

The weather should change around wednesday next week, now it may even reach -16 C / 3 F.

Here are two photos with the tyres: Hi Trac2, Sport Track3, Sport Track5 and the Ultrac Cento 94Y XL (on 16'' for start) [:d]

You cannot really afford to use 18'' wheels around here because of the quality of the roads but now I'm definitely planning to buy 17'' wheels and tyres, those should be ok.
Thanks for reading.

Is that Audi 16" OE alloy? Care to post the inside pictures of the wheel?

If it's urgent you might take a look here for Audi wheels:

But if not, I might take one down on a weekend and take a picture.

Hi guys!

Bought 04 A4 1.8TQAM a week ago, and I´m trying to find some good summer tyres. The car came to me with a set of Nexens N6000 ( 235/40 ) on original Audi A4Q 18" alloys. There is still some tread, but I´m planning a trip to France in few months, so I´d like to chage them before. I tried to dig out some info about Nexen N6000/8000 ( and some others ), read loads of reviews, they seem to be a good value for the money though, but I´m still thinking IF there is a brand/model that can perform better, especially on wet as I live in Ireland, so raining nearly every day. Got a quote today for Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and Bridgestone Re002 from big local shop, but both are unfortunatelly above my budget ( 185, resp. 165 Euro a piece ). So my question is - is there any alternative for around 120Euro/tyre ?? Fuel consuption or noise is not a top priority, but I demand good grip on wet for steering and braking. Driving about 90% of time on motorway and trying to stay within legal speed limits ( sadly not everyone in Ireland is keen to do so, many wanna-be-Schumachers here ).

Hope I´m not so much OT with my question. Thank you in advance for any advice/recommendations! : )

I just got the Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Position good tire and was on sale. Michelin Pilot Super Sports are suppose to be really nice but are expensive. Usually can find a good deal on the Continental ExtremeContact DW

Thanks for a tip Levski, will consider them among few others. Also a question - will there be a big performance difference between 235 and 245´s ?? Some say wider track might help a lot on wet prevent aqaplanning/braking ( within legal speed ). I really don´t have much experience in this area, so I better ask silly questions than buy something wrong.

Usually with a wider tire you're more likely to get some hydroplaning.

Go as wide as you can. No need to worry about driving in the rain unless you have an R compound or 300+ width tires.

That said, if you're looking for a great all around tire- Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

If you want all out performance, Toyo R888s.

Read a lot of possitive stuff about them Michelins today. If the tyre shop will make me a nice deal I will defo consider them in top 3. Had finally some time and great mixture of weather to try the actual Nexen N6000 on my car. 7´Celsius, sun, half empty B-road = BIG smile! Light rain afterwards, so I changed to a better road trying some breaking/handling = even BIGGER smile!! I am not a tyre expert, literally knowing about tyres just very basics, but what a nice surprise today..! The Nexens are then in final list as a budget tyre.

Does anybody has any other recommendation? : )

Using Michelins PSS currently which is much better than Yokohama S.Drive in terms of traction and noise.
