s6 4.2 exhaust question

I have removed the rear mufflers on my s6 avant. I have replaced the muffler for a piece of straight pipe from the same diameter. Sound really good. Only the drone between 1700 and 2000 rpm is sometimes a little anoying. What is the best way to get rid of the drone.

If i put this inbetween it will i reduce the drone ?

This thread is the go-to for exhaust. Castor Troy says his combo does not have a drone. I'm pretty sure they are Magnaflow 11224 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/310447757614).
