Hello All,

I recently started having problems with my B7 not allowing me to roll down windows from the driver side, the door light stays on as if the door isn't closed, and my alarm wont set. I tried wiggling the wires in between the door and left fender and sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. I'm wondering if it's a short or if there is a part that I need to replace. Please help![confused]

It's not uncommon for the wires you're wiggling to break inside the rubber boot. Best way is to take it apart and look.

Ok thanks. I'll check it out.

Have you recently played around with anything in the trunk? Trunk latch maybe? I know its weird question but I recently learned the alarm module (for arming) is built into the trunk latch.

No I haven't. I won't rule that out, but I'm more inclined to think it is a short in the door wires as DoThisMyWay says. I won't be able to check until i get off of work

It sounds to me like the door switch is shorting out, so the car still believes that the door or trunk is still open. The alarm won't be audible when you lock the car if something is left open.

That's what I thought at first. If that is the case does anyone know that particular part number and is it a simple fix?

x2. happened to me

also, my car doesnt "beep" when i lock the doors because my trunk doesnt latch all the time.

when this wire was severed, none of the power controls on that door would work.

YES!!! I cant roll down any of the windows or open the trunk or fuel door from the drivers side.
How did you fix it? Did you use a connector?

Lo and behold it is a broken wire in my door harness. I ordered the part and will install when it arrives.

How much was the part? I may have the beginnings of this problem on my drivers door, usually when its raining it won't lock, or the handle won't work, usually wiggling the rubber boot fixes it.

295+ tax from the dealer. Won't come in until Tuesday. My new problem is I won't be able to get gas until its fixed. Unless there is a way to manually open it. Does anyone know?

just took both ends, twisted them together, taped it up. i have bought a soldering iron since then so i probably should go solder it, but, its been fine with my ghetto fix.

I think I remember seeing a manual latch release in the truck.

I just received the part and installed it. Success!!!! I used this link from a B6 thread in another forum. There are some differences but basically the same.
