View Full Version : "Custom" Suede Headliner ideas....

So I have the Suede itch and am moving on to the headliner now. I installed suede door cards and trim a few months back that turned out great! Now A,B,C pillars and headliner are next. I kept the color tone as stock as possible, looks better this way!

I have a grey, hazelnut/white interior that is hard to have match correctly. Not traditional black interior. I used a "hazelnut" suede that I felt was complimentary to the rest of interior and seats. I plan on using the same for pillars and headliner.

My question goes out to the creativity aspect from you guys. What could I do to make the headliner/pillars unique but close to stock???
Maybe like a raised Audi emblem across the pillars, or diagonal in the headliner. The whole thing would be the same material, yet raised a bit with added foam underneath to create the illusion. Catch my drift??
Or, the // symbol would look classy. Any ideas from you all would be great!!!

Here's a shitty interior shot to give you idea of my color scheme.

Notice I used "unique", "stock", and "clean" which doesn't mean flames, plaids, and other dumba$$ ideas..

I take that's a no on the flames then.

I wouldn't do anything with symbols. Just keep is clean, and play off your accent colours, like you used for the trim.

Figured the flames were coming....

The more thinking I do, the less I like the idea. Wanted to hear some good ideas I guess

I guess I've watched too many episodes of WCC...

If you're going to do it, I'd just wrap it all in the same solid color. Keep it simple and clean

I'd just do it in whatever color you did those other things.

That's what I plan on doing one day. A little worried that it may get dirty too easily dough.

More than that if you add stickers

Those that re-wrap the a/b/c pillars, what do you do about the window motion sensors. DO you simply cover them up. If you do do that, is it impossible to maintain them. Ive always wanted to wrap that pillar but didnt know what to do with the sensor area.

Great question as I am currently doing it myself. There is a thread in here on how the b pillar was wrapped with suede yet was a pre facelift with no sensors...

OK what color did you use to spray\paint the lower part of the dash to come close to matching the
Top section of the dash?

The only parts that were painted in the interior is the door handles

***update***
Decided to go with a slightly lighter beige to give it a 3tone look. I think it will look very well seeing that the headliner was brighter to begin with. No design or any crazyiness!

Questions I still have:
- How to wrap B pillars seeing they are a PITA and has sensor vents? Keep in mind I'm going for a clean look and not half ass!
- Best way to clean this orange shizz off the headliner?
This stuff was on the door cards I did but this is WAY more and the headliner itself is pretty delicate...

Actually you CAN use a BBQ brush without damaging anything. Just wear a mask. That stuff starts flying around everywhere. Try to find a soft bristle one.

Decided to take a different route and use a puddy knife and get the old shiz off. FML! However, it is working yet time consuming

For any of you that search this, here is how I did the B and C pillars. It was pretty difficult with the C's so I broke the triangle piece in two by the plastic welds. Then wrapped and stretched suede over the two pieces and then glued back together.
The B pillars are a PITA so I decided to eliminate the sensor and covered them. Also, by the sides you can see I did a "fold over fold" method. It is almost impossible to stretch suede in that design so this was almost a must. I think it turned out very well, gives a stitching look.
