View Full Version : Aftermarket S-Line Bumper?

My front bumper was damaged from another driver not securing his load down and cracked my front bumper. The insurance won't pay for an OEM S-Line bumper and will only pay for an aftermarket replica (which is $250 cheaper). If I'm not mistaken, I was under the impression that there were only aftermarket versions of the regular A4 bumper and not the replica. I also looked online and couldn't find an S-Line aftermarket anywhere. Does anyone know if this is true?

If I can ask, what insurance do you have, as I've never heard of only buying replica body parts. Non-OEM glass, yes. Body parts no. You could try http://www.prestigebumpers.com/audi1.html

USAA. Apparently their policy is that if your car is more than two years old that they replace it with aftermarket and no OE. But do you have any idea if there even is an aftermarket S-Line? I'm pretty sure there isn't...

Not that I know of. But if they want aftermarket: http://www.visracingbodykits.com/2006-2008-audi-4dr-rs4-conversion-front-bumper-vis-racing-06aua44drs4-001-p-357396.html or http://www.eurogearusa.com/bodykits/products/06_audi_a4_deval_front_bumper.html

If your insurance (I assume body shop) can't find a after market bumper they will buy oem.

They found a bumper, but I'm 99% sure it's just the standard bumper. I just don't want to go through the hassle of them ordering it and then finding out its wrong. Would rather just just an OEM bumper from the start.

It will be interesting to find out if there is an after market s-line bumper.

Good luck on the repair.

The aftermarket bumper they want to use is just a shitty Chinese made bumper. You aren't going to find it available online for you to purchase. They also use "refurbished" oem bumpers as well, so always double check to make sure they are using NEW oem bumpers.

Why isnt the other driver's insurance paying for this? Why not go through them and see if a better deal can be reached? I would DEMAND full replacement with a LKQ (like kind quality) part. A used one from another car, polished and painted would be better than an aftermarket one. Any body shop can do this paint matching. Inquire as to how much to redo a bumper that you can source. Get a couple HIGH quotes--then use car-part.com to find a used one. With any luck you can clear a few $$ on the deal.
If the bumper is not too blown--it can be repaired to look new with epoxy and bondo and new paint.
You tube shows how......

makes you wonder exactly what your premium pays for each month...
Geico years ago tried the same with me, if you know better and demand oem parts they will let you use them. insurance companies try this non-sense all the time

Prestige bumpers: http://www.prestigebumpers.com/20aua4sfrbuc.html

OEM, refurbished, much cheaper, primed and ready for paint. I've been trying to snag a DTM from them for a while haha. I've heard fantastic things about them.

Not true with USAA-- ask me I know. The replaced a few parts on my 05 Wrangler in 08-09 and they were going to restore my old 05.5 A4 with all OEM parts before they decided to total it out
