Hi,

First of all, you have a great forum here and it has helped me. And for what it's worth I have tried to find the information I need, but could do with a hand.

I drive a 2005 Audi A3 Sportback and recently purchased an aux adaptor for my concert 2 radio - this one here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221169021842&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:AU:3160). However, rather than just running the cable into the glove box, I want to either add a port above the radio, like this thread here (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/288441-Aux-Input-Mod?p=3801401#post3801401), or more preferably purchase an OEM aux button and put the port somewhere along the center console.

My question is:

If I go the oem aux port route, can you guys recommend a guide to install the button. Last thing I want is to make a mistake and have a hole or blemish where I have messed up. Also, are there any tips for getting the aux wire from the back of the stereo down along the center console, can I use some sort of puller rather than take the whole console apart? I also haven't seen a guide for soldering the left/right aux to the aux port. I assume this is just left and right.

If I instead go the dashboard button route, is it necessary to ground it (I notice a third connection on all 3.5mm sockets)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Antony.

At the very least, could someone recommend the best way to cut a hole in the center console for the oem aux port? I think the best place for it is toward the rear of the console so there aren't any wires around the handbrake, gear shifter etc. This means if I mess up the hole it's gonna be expensive to replace the whole console. Is the best way to drill four holes and then use a hacksaw/file to create the square?
