While I was attempting to clean my battery posts/terminals which had become corroded I loosened the actual battery post. The cable was so stuck that when I was twisting the cable, the actual battery post was moving with it and it came up just a little (literally 3-5mm if that). I was finally able to get the cable off the battery without the post moving any more. My question is, a) will this affect the battery in any way? b) is there a way put the post back in its original position? and c) can I still try to clean it with a baking soda/water mix? This happened on the negative terminal.

Here's a picture of what happened

I am no battery expert, and could be talking out of my BUTT!! but.. because it's winter, and I wouldn't want any type of faulty anything much the less an engine fire, I would replace the battery as a precaution. That's just me though ..

Yeah defiantly worth replacing. It will end up loosing all its fluid and thus you will eventually end up somewhere with a dead battery.

Replace with OEM battery. Worth the money. Consider replacing terminals or cables if corroded or damaged, and never hammer or pry on terminals or posts.
